People experience the complexity of individual and collaborative components of a professional orchestra (or musical ensemble).

Art, Film & Music Projects

No

It's impossible from the audience (if you are a non-professional) to pick out the individual instruments and themes in a big orchestral piece. In this exhibit, a piece (under 5 min) will be played as individual tracks, one for each instrument in the orchestra. In the room, there would be a floor plan layout of the orchestra pit, with an IR beam coming out of each one (first violin, third cello, timpani, etc). When you break any beam, that instrument is added to the sound coming out of the room speakers. The piece loops so you can interact with the exhibit at any time. The more people involved, the more of the orchestra you hear. To find out more, consult the wiki.
