This exhibit explores how sound plays an integral part in film-making, in a fun and interactive way.

This exhibit uses various forms of interaction to engage and inform the visitor on aspects of sound creation and utilisation in the movie industry.

The exhibit contains three elements:

1 - A mock-up of a Foley Studio

This illustrates how Foley Artists use everyday objects to create sound effects. Simple to build, the Foley studio is easy to use and intuitively designed.

2 - A movie sound quiz

This fun quiz is just as interactive in SL as it is in RL. It takes four interesting and wacky examples of sound effects from recent popular movies and definitely gives the visitor at least one 'aha!' moment.

3 - Information Boards

The six information boards start on the left and move clockwise around the exhibit. They contain an overview of sound effects in movies, and explain how although the method of making sound effects may not have changed since Jack Foley's day (1950's), advances in technology now allow sound specialists to do so much more with these organic sounds.

Please see the Design tab for more detailed information of RL / SL components.
