No

Everyone has stuck nails and paper clips to magnets, but what about coins? Well, if you live in Canada, most of the coins you use every day contain large amounts of nickel. Some of the new coins are over 90% steel (which is mostly iron) with a nickel coating. If you’ve been paying attention, you might suspect that these coins would be attracted to a permanent magnet. We can use magnets to undertake a simple exploration of the metallurgy of coins. The exhibit: I conceived the exhibit as a sculpture, but it can be put together as a simple tabletop experience as well.
