- Musical Chairs Contest Entry Statement — by l garvie — last modified 2008-03-03 06:22
- a brief accounting of the exhibit's new design, and a detailed account of the ways in which it satisfies the contest's judging criteria

- these are some shots of me building the exhibit on my sky platform. here i am placing the 'poseballs' which are scripted to allow avatars to sit on the instruments and also to trigger the sounds specific to each kind of chair.

- this shows the basic layout of the instruments on the stage

- this shows the stage lights and the dimensions of the exhibit space. lighting is very peculiar in second life. these really are lights in that they give off illumination, but the beams are an illusion created using a plywood cone shape made 'phantom' (so that avatars can walk through it) and made transparent using a texture. the final effect comes very close to the look of standing under colored stage lights.

- here it's all coming together
- musical chairs 05 — by l garvie — last modified 2008-03-04 08:28
- phew, that first day of building was a long one. only in second life can you relax in the sunset to the sound of a saxophone that you made yourself, play the sound by sitting on the instrument, and do it all from a platform suspended (gravity free) 600 metres up in the sky. cool jazz was never cooler than this!

- installing at parkside exhibit hall
- musical chairs 07 — by l garvie — last modified 2008-03-06 15:05
- installation complete. now i have the stage rotating clockwise, a swirling musical staph spinning in the opposite direction and lots of noise. i hope the other exhibit builders don't hate me for this. :-)
- musical chairs 08 blue ribbon! — by l garvie — last modified 2008-03-03 06:34
- there i am next to my pretty blue ribbon. that's right, i won! meaning that Musical Chairs was one of a number of great designs selected for real life installation at The Tech. (note that i've been too busy building to change my sl clothes for days.... sheesh)
- musical chairs 09 — by l garvie — last modified 2008-02-29 15:06
- ta da last one for now... (what a ham) at least i didn't put in any pictures of me dancing.
- Musical Chairs (putting it all together) — by l garvie — last modified 2008-04-25 09:30
- this is a VIDEO for the machinima effort for the June exhibition. it is lengthy, meaty big and bouncy and doubtless in need of editing skills better than mine.
- things that Annie makes — by l garvie — last modified 2008-04-25 10:05
- as the name suggests, this VIDEO features the work (and antics) of Annie Obscure. It is also intended for use in the Machinima for June project.
