Project Description:
A new motion capture system developed by Organic Motion (video: http://www.organicmotion.com) will enable a visitor to simply step into a tracking space wearing standard street clothing and the system starts tracking him or her in real time at a high level of 3d precision. This technology can be the basis for the creation of 3d avatar http://img.timeinc.net/popsci/images/2007/09/vgames_ss_10.jpgars that might be manipulated in a virtual world environment. The New York Hall of Science is proposing to collaborate with others to develop, prototype, and implement an exhibit component that uses this system to explore the science and technology of human enhancement. This component then may be deployed as part of a traveling museum exhibition called Human + currently being developed by the New York Hall of Science.
