Where is the intersection between Real- and Virtual-Life?
Art, Film & Music Projects
No
Do avatars have feelings? And is it possible to spread out a Virus who reacting on the personal behaviours of Avatars in Second Life? These questions are the starting point of the media art project by Michael Mastrototaro (aka MACHFELD) [Vienna/Austria] in cooperation with August Black [Santa Barbara / USA]. The bright light of the digital culture burns with a vision of being in communities… and the user is not alone anymore in this virtual hyperspace. All this very hype Online-Communities like Second Life, Myspace and so on gives us an overview, that togetherness helps us to define our daily needs and to find out what we rely want in both lives. But what’s happening if someone installs real life behaviours in these very frequented online worlds like illness? Michael Mastrototaro will create a virus for Second Life. A Virus - that reacts on social behaviours like aggression, closeness, feelings and emotions witch infects the avatars. Because Real Life (and it doesn’t matter in witch world you are and witch life you feel for true) is a continuing up and down of feelings, emotions and needs. This project will be realized during my stay in california from 03.02. - 23.02.2008
