[10:00]  You: hi, folks!
[10:00]  Fountain Entrance Proximity Sensor: Welcome back to The Tech, Stephe Roux! Check out some of the cool new exhibits in Parkside Exhibit Workshop if you get the chance...
[10:00]  You: Hi, Lorenza, I just sent you an email
[10:01]  Lorenza Rokocoko: Hi everyone
[10:01]  Shakini Parnass: new outfits!
[10:01]  Shakini Parnass: how's everything going?
[10:01]  Lorenza Rokocoko: I'll check your email, thanks! Viva la revolución
[10:02]  You: Hi, Bjorlyn, you probaly know that NASA has a big do at the Tech tomorrow
[10:02]  Lydia Milner is Online
[10:03]  Bjorlyn Loon: yes, IMing with Universa
[10:03]  You: Also, on thurs at 10 some folks from the NY Hall of Science will be brainistorming in the sandbox, and you are all invited to join them
[10:03]  Bjorlyn Loon: anyone want the notecard?
[10:04]  You: Hi, Lydia
[10:04]  Lydia Milner: Hi All Sorry I am late :)
[10:04]  Lydia Milner: Hi Stephe :)
[10:04]  Shakini Parnass: hi lydia, you're not late
[10:04]  You: 4 min, wow!
[10:04]  Shakini Parnass: we're just getting started
[10:05]  Shakini Parnass: i see there's a new project up from garvie
[10:05]  Shakini Parnass: related to the jaipur foot called walk softly
[10:05]  Shakini Parnass: someone else posted a project totally unrelated to the tech awards
[10:06]  Shakini Parnass: called femocide in juarez
[10:06]  Shakini Parnass: it appears that our press release that was sent out
[10:06]  Shakini Parnass: selectively chose bits and pieces of the information
[10:06]  Shakini Parnass: but mostly focused on the idea of technology benefiting humanity
[10:06]  Shakini Parnass: so there have been other inquiries about unrelated new projects as well
[10:07]  Bjorlyn Loon: Shakini, Delia is running a bit late, will be here in a bit.
[10:07]  Shakini Parnass: no problem
[10:07]  Shakini Parnass: so lydia, any new developments on your projects?
[10:07]  Shakini Parnass: or anything you want us to bounce ideas about?
[10:08]  Dancers Yao: /I wondered if there was a protocol for asking permission to use a person's pictures or video in an exhibit? I'm working on an idea related to the witness project
[10:08]  Shakini Parnass: i think anything that is posted on the tech website is fair game to use
[10:08]  Shakini Parnass: or even the project website
[10:08]  You: it would be great to get more ideas for exhibit projects. If everybody brought a friend to this meeting next week ...
[10:09]  Lydia Milner: brb
[10:09]  Shakini Parnass: what are you working on dancers?
[10:09]  Kat Lemieux is Online
[10:11]  Shakini Parnass: hi delia
[10:11]  Dancers Yao: I want to relate the exhibit to the witness program, I have ususally worked in community psychology, and see this as a great way to bring attention to human rights issues.
[10:11]  You: hi, Delia
[10:11]  Delia Lake: hi everyone
[10:11]  Bjorlyn Loon: hey Delia!
[10:11]  Shakini Parnass: there are certainly a variety of issues that witness is touching upon
[10:12]  StopAllAnimations: Stopping 1 animations
[10:12]  StopAllAnimations: Done
[10:12]  Shakini Parnass: it is very meaningful that they are empowering people to document what they see
[10:12]  Shakini Parnass: and difficult to translate to a western audience
[10:13]  Lydia Milner: sorry, back now
[10:13]  You: Hi, Alan
[10:13]  Alan Regent: hi stephe, hi all
[10:13]  Bjorlyn Loon: Delia, let me IM paste you what you missed
[10:13]  Dancers Yao: yes it is excellent work, and that is why I wondered how to credit the program in the exhibit
[10:13]  Lydia Milner: Hi Alan
[10:14]  Shakini Parnass: depending on what you name the exhibit, it may be obvious
[10:14]  Shakini Parnass: or you could say in the project description that it is based on the work of witness
[10:14]  Shakini Parnass: there may be other ways to tie-in witness once you get going with manifesting your ideas
[10:15]  Dancers Yao: yes, thanks.
[10:15]  Shakini Parnass: have you thought about any specifics?
[10:16]  Shakini Parnass: for those of you who aren't familiar with witness, it is a program that gives people video cameras to document human rights abuses
[10:16]  Delia Lake: yes
[10:16]  Lydia Milner: Witness is one of the 21 listed topics inst it?
[10:16]  You: yes
[10:16]  Dancers Yao: but need to work on them further before submitting the big idea!
[10:16]  Shakini Parnass: any ideas about how to translate some of this work in an exhibit is welcome
[10:17]  Shakini Parnass: thats cool
[10:18]  You: I want to mention that you don't need to to everything on a project yourself. On the Website there is a new feature called Help Wanted. If you need a body for your project with a particular skill set (graphics? scripting?) you just post a Help Wanted notice.
[10:18]  Shakini Parnass: lydia, how are things going with your projects?
[10:19]  Lydia Milner: Hi, sorry, three things at once as usual!
[10:19]  Shakini Parnass: should we talk a little about mapping time to visitor's actions with the kickstart pump?
[10:19]  Lydia Milner: Well, I started buidling on one, the kickstart, did some notes in my notebook for hte webpage, and
[10:19]  Lydia Milner: well.....
[10:19]  Bjorlyn Loon tries fruitlessly to unravel Shakini's last sentence.
[10:19]  Lydia Milner: thought a lot :)
[10:20]  Lydia Milner: I would like ot get one finished in SL and on web b4 end May, but I dont know if I will
[10:20]  Shakini Parnass: one comment that lydia posted on her site was trying to translate the amount of time that someone pumps the kickstart pump
[10:20]  Lydia Milner: yes
[10:20]  mac Coronet is Online
[10:20]  Shakini Parnass: into the growth of plants
[10:21]  Lydia Milner: it needs the SL xfer and the RL xfer,
[10:21]  Shakini Parnass: or how many people it feeds
[10:21]  Lydia Milner: so some x=y of pumping time for both sl and rl
[10:21]  Lydia Milner: Shakini, do you have any real stats on this please?
[10:21]  You: hi, tanya
[10:21]  Lydia Milner: then I can just create two equations
[10:21]  Shakini Parnass: no, but we could try to get some
[10:21]  Tanya Vick: hi Stephe
[10:21]  Lydia Milner: that would be wonderful :)
[10:22]  Tanya Vick: what's going on here?
[10:22]  Shakini Parnass: i just sent out consent forms to all of the tech awards laureates
[10:22]  Shakini Parnass: i haven't heard back yet from approtec, but once i do, i'm sure they will be happy to give us some of this info
[10:22]  You: we're talking about designing exhibits for the Tech Museum's next exhibition
[10:22]  Tanya Vick: oh ok
[10:23]  Lydia Milner: oh good,a nd I can use their photos off webpage too?
[10:23]  Lydia Milner: and the vid?
[10:23]  Shakini Parnass: if there are very specific things you want let me know
[10:23]  You: about technologies benefitting humanity
[10:23]  mac Coronet is Offline
[10:23]  Tanya Vick: oh i see
[10:23]  Lydia Milner: thanks Shakini, what I think I need ot try do first instrad of enjoying myself building :),
[10:23]  Tanya Vick: i'm not familair with that
[10:23]  Lydia Milner: is to draft out a descritption/ideas on the webpage like a draft project plan
[10:23]  Lydia Milner: and go from there.. that would identify resources, skills etc
[10:24]  Lydia Milner: and give you a better idea of what i am thinking of
[10:24]  Delia Lake: thx
[10:25]  Tanya Vick: thanks
[10:25]  Lydia Milner: Hi Tanya, we design and build virtual exhibits in SL as protoypes for the RL museum, all are welcome to join in :)
[10:25]  Shakini Parnass: i could ask just for some basic info in the meantime and maybe that will help get you going
[10:25]  Tanya Vick accepted your inventory offer.
[10:25]  Lydia Milner: that would be great
[10:25]  Draxtor Despres is Offline
[10:26]  Lydia Milner: I wouls liek to use the vid of the chap on the pump that is on the webpage, and I did look at some of the stills but they may have been on their webpage... I'll email you and let you know which?
[10:26]  Lydia Milner: I've built a field and an old well so far :)
[10:26]  Shakini Parnass: yes
[10:26]  Tanya Vick: nice
[10:27]  Shakini Parnass: the actual pump is a bit precarious to put out on the museum floor
[10:27]  Shakini Parnass: so we will have to do some retrofitting to make it kid-proof
[10:27]  Lydia Milner: lol, tell me about that!
[10:27]  Shakini Parnass: sharp metal edges, thin blades to step on, etc
[10:27]  Lydia Milner: I tihnk of it as like a gym stepper, could you fake it a bit ?
[10:27]  Shakini Parnass: yes, it is like a gym stepper
[10:27]  Shakini Parnass: just the steps are a little thinner and metal
[10:28]  Shakini Parnass: maybe putting big rubber footprint on those would be the way to go
[10:28]  Earn2Life.com HUD v3.57: Earn2Life.com HUD initialized, v3.57
[10:28]  You: I was thinkiing of doing a building class in the sandbox, making e.g. a kickstart pump mockup
[10:28]  Shakini Parnass: that would be great stephe
[10:29]  Shakini Parnass: maybe there are other assets that could go into a library of resources for people who aren't builders
[10:29]  Shakini Parnass: for each of the projects
[10:29]  Lydia Milner: i havent started building the pump so if someone else builds it that would be cool :)
[10:29]  Lydia Milner: i am looking forrward to building the glasses though, ii think that will be fun
[10:30]  Lydia Milner: for the other topic
[10:30]  You: maybe there are other Tech Award gadgets we could model, too. Eyeglasses? Lifeline Radio?
[10:30]  Lydia Milner: ah, Qion would like some help with the radio I think, She asked me the other day about textures for inside etc
[10:31]  Lydia Milner: I said to email you guys as I thought you'd said things ont eh web were fair game, images, etc
[10:31]  Delia Lake: don't know if this is info that would fit, but there is a group at MIT that is working on innovative low tech gadgets and practical tools
[10:31]  Shakini Parnass: i just heard back from their founder - what does Qion need?
[10:31]  Alan Regent accepted your inventory offer.
[10:31]  Lydia Milner: I shold free up in RL in about 1.5 wks and then I can get going more
[10:32]  Lydia Milner: I think she said textures of the radio close up and the workings inside
[10:32]  Shakini Parnass: actually, the cell bazaar project originated at mit
[10:32]  Lydia Milner: i belive she can build and script it herself, it was just tectures
[10:32]  Shakini Parnass: i can check to see if they have any photos of the insides
[10:32]  Lydia Milner: wonderful thanks.
[10:33]  Dancers Yao: /sorry I can't stay longer this morning. Have a good meeting. bye
[10:33]  Shakini Parnass: delia, are there any projects in particular at mit that you thought might tie in?
[10:33]  You: good photos or diagrams of kickstart would be helpful, too
[10:33]  Shakini Parnass: bye dancers
[10:33]  You: bye dancers
[10:34]  Shakini Parnass: hi wess
[10:34]  Delia Lake: let me check on what they are currently working on at this low-tech group
[10:34]  You: hi, Wess
[10:34]  Delia Lake: i'll let you know
[10:34]  Wess Wexler: hi
[10:34]  Wess Wexler: thx
[10:35]  You: Hi, Caledonia
[10:35]  Wess Wexler: Sorry!
[10:35]  Caledonia Heron: hey there :)
[10:35]  Bjorlyn Loon: Hey Caledonia! Long time no see!
[10:35]  Lydia Milner: Yes Stephe, that would be good, there are quite a few shots on their webpage so I was hoping to mock one up from that (Assuming both side look the same :))
[10:35]  Caledonia Heron: Hey Bjorlynn :)
[10:35]  Shakini Parnass: i'll see what i can get from them
[10:36]  Caledonia Heron: looks like I dropped into a meeting :)
[10:36]  Caledonia Heron: sorry to interrupt
[10:36]  You: no pb
[10:36]  Shakini Parnass: no problem - all are welcome!
[10:36]  Bjorlyn Loon: Stephe, will you have time after?
[10:36]  Bjorlyn Loon: I have a list of questions.
[10:37]  Bjorlyn Loon: or Shakini, either or
[10:37]  Shakini Parnass: stephe just suggsted that maybe we meet at the pool in the future?
[10:37]  Lydia Milner: i'll put more poses on and make it bigger :)
[10:37]  Lydia Milner: nicer than standing here
[10:37]  Delia Lake: Shakini, could you give me the url for the website again?
[10:38]  You: http://thetechvirtual.org/ucantu
[10:38]  Delia Lake: thx
[10:38]  You: shall we move over to the pool?
[10:38]  Bjorlyn Loon gave you TECH  Questions 05/13/08.
[10:40]  Bjorlyn Loon: For me, currently Im helping Universa market the NASA event, and spending a ton of time on the rock art exhibit for ICOM. And Im still trying to pack up Soundscape full perms. So I will probably pick up a project out of whatever is left over for ucan2 when those are done. Im also planning to be at the NY thing on Thursday to demo how we did the lighted words on soundscape.
[10:40]  Shakini Parnass: stephe is our community builder
[10:41]  Shakini Parnass: there is a company called Ogilvy that sends out our SL press releases
[10:41]  Lydia Milner: oh yes i am looking forweard to that
[10:41]  Shakini Parnass: but i don't know if they are doing much beyond that
[10:41]  Shakini Parnass: as far as SL marketing
[10:41]  Bjorlyn Loon: I sure havent seen much
[10:41]  Lydia Milner: do you need anything else doing for icom?
[10:41]  Bjorlyn Loon: and it's a real shame
[10:41]  Shakini Parnass: not surprising, i don't think they're in SL
[10:42]  You: Ogilvy is not really into SL marketing
[10:42]  Bjorlyn Loon: Im fine on what I'm doing Lydia.
[10:42]  Lydia Milner: ok
[10:42]  Wytchwhisper Sadofsky is Online
[10:42]  Bjorlyn Loon: well stephe, why dont we meet after for a couple of minutes, as you have three big events coming up and that's what I do well
[10:42]  Shakini Parnass: it would seem that most or all of the momentum we have was generated from Art, Film & Music and is building from there
[10:43]  You: sure, that would be great
[10:43]  Kat Lemieux is Offline
[10:43]  Shakini Parnass: alisa, are you getting any ideas from these meetings?
[10:43]  Bjorlyn Loon: who can give me terraform rights on the ICOM parcel?
[10:43]  Kat Lemieux is Online
[10:44]  Alisa Cleanslate: Yes, I'm very interested in FogQuest, but don't have time/resource to build an exhibit.
[10:44]  You: I can do that
[10:44]  Alisa Cleanslate: I'm available to help people with animation.
[10:44]  Bjorlyn Loon: kk, thanks Stephe
[10:45]  Lydia Milner: That would belovely Alisa, I may call you on that soon :)
[10:45]  Alisa Cleanslate: great :)
[10:45]  Delia Lake: really, alisa? that would be very helpful
[10:46]  Alisa Cleanslate: Yes, I've been doing animations for Sploland (Exploratorium) exhibits.
[10:46]  Shakini Parnass: stephe when is your workshop going to be?
[10:46]  Delia Lake: ok. excellent
[10:46]  Lydia Milner: Its tomorrow
[10:46]  Shakini Parnass: how do i stop splashing?
[10:46]  You: remember that projects are meant to be collaborative - you don't need to do it all yourself!
[10:46]  Lydia Milner: this week has something every day :)
[10:46]  Lydia Milner: exc. sat
[10:48]  You: busy week - oh the social whirl!
[10:48]  Delia Lake: which workshop is this? i need to catch up with what is happening here
[10:48]  Shakini Parnass: so it seems that we're slowly moving forward
[10:48]  Lydia Milner: About Ogilvy, I dont know what mktg oppties there are in SL
[10:48]  Lydia Milner: may be one of the newspapers
[10:48]  Lydia Milner: have you contacted rueters in SL?
[10:48]  Lydia Milner: reuter
[10:48]  Shakini Parnass: i think they have
[10:48]  You: yes
[10:48]  You: I have
[10:49]  Lydia Milner: oh ok.
