[2008/06/06 9:34] You: lets hope this one will be more success ;-)
[2008/06/06 9:35] Perry Later: Interesting...I go way back in this sort of thing with ICQ and chat rooms so this is really the next generation of ICQ
[2008/06/06 9:35] You: exactly. How did youhear about the Tech?
[2008/06/06 9:35] Perry Later: I thought I needed to stay in touch with the technology so that I can continue to compete with you youngsters

[2008/06/06 9:37] You: I'm 65
[2008/06/06 9:38] Perry Later: Interesting....I am in telecom and trying to find ways of using the web to push what I do out to the masses. Sure, there is Citrix and WebEx and other ways of doing things but this makes the show and tell a bit more interesting.
[2008/06/06 9:38] You: much more interesting
[2008/06/06 9:38] Ulysse Alexandre: sure :)
[2008/06/06 9:39] You: what we're doing here is developing museum exhibits through an open source process.
[2008/06/06 9:39] Perry Later: Are you familiar with Pulver Medai? They do VON magazine and a few others related to channel sales of IP-related products
[2008/06/06 9:40] Ulysse Alexandre: never eard about that
[2008/06/06 9:40] You: all the exhibits in this room were created by individuals with no connection to the Tech Museum, under a Creative Commons license
[2008/06/06 9:40] You: and six of them have been built for the museum in RL
[2008/06/06 9:41] You: the exhibition just opened this week
[2008/06/06 9:41] Perry Later: At some point I would like to find the time to be more creative in this sense...presently my creativity is limited to the company web site, the development of sales literature and general informatioon dissemanation - - - did I spelll that right?
[2008/06/06 9:42] Perry Later: Ooops
[2008/06/06 9:42] Perry Later: saw what I did
[2008/06/06 9:42] Ulysse Alexandre: yes
[2008/06/06 9:42] You: spelling is not a high point in SL
[2008/06/06 9:42] You: not for me anyway
[2008/06/06 9:43] Perry Later: is there a way of "bookmarking" this location....can't help it...pretty anal when it comes to getting things right by sometimes I move too quickly and the fingers don't actually respond as well as they should.
[2008/06/06 9:44] Perry Later: see what I mean...by should have been but
[2008/06/06 9:44] You: yes there is -- it's called a landmark - I'll give you one
[2008/06/06 9:44] Ulysse Alexandre: you can create a landmark as a "bookmark"
[2008/06/06 9:45] Perry Later accepted your inventory offer.
[2008/06/06 9:45] Perry Later accepted your inventory offer.
[2008/06/06 9:45] Ulysse Alexandre: you can easily create one yourself
[2008/06/06 9:46] You: it's somewhere in the menu system: create landmark here
[2008/06/06 9:46] Ulysse Alexandre: on WORLD
[2008/06/06 9:46] Perry Later: This could be a place to hold a meeting....is there a way to import video and possibly show it on some sort of screen image similar to what I see in the booth
[2008/06/06 9:47] You: yes
[2008/06/06 9:47] Perry Later: maybe not a video but a PowerPoint?
[2008/06/06 9:47] Ulysse Alexandre: both are possible
[2008/06/06 9:47] Perry Later: So much to learn and so little time - - - - excellent. Are both of you in the Bay Area?
[2008/06/06 9:48] You: PowerPoint as a series of images, not as a program'
[2008/06/06 9:48] Ulysse Alexandre: no I live in Switzerland
[2008/06/06 9:48] You: i'm in SF

[2008/06/06 9:49] Perry Later: It has been about 8 years since my last trip to Switzerland
[2008/06/06 9:49] Ulysse Alexandre: and 9 my last to USA
[2008/06/06 9:49] You: Sl is actually much more interactive than any PowerPoint deck - You can build stuff rather than hitting ppl with bullets
[2008/06/06 9:50] You: we have classes in building and scripting in SL - they're listed in the notecard I gave you
[2008/06/06 9:51] Perry Later: Is it possible to take a photo of a product and convert it into a 3-D image that can be shown as a device in a space such as this?
[2008/06/06 9:51] You: yes
[2008/06/06 9:51] Perry Later: I see that lots of images have been converted into display-like presentations
[2008/06/06 9:51] Perry Later: yes indeed...lots to learn
[2008/06/06 9:51] You: and the reverse -- that's what we're doing here with muesum exhibits
[2008/06/06 9:52] You: RL -> SL and SL -> RL
[2008/06/06 9:52] Bjorlyn Loon is Offline
[2008/06/06 9:52] Perry Later: Gentlemen, it was indeed a pleasure chatting with you. It has been the most intelligent conversation/chat I have ever had on the web, even dating back to those early ICQ days

[2008/06/06 10:03] Ulysse Alexandre: and do you keep your avatars name?
[2008/06/06 10:04] You: when you get to know someone in SL you know that they may not look like their avatar, but still ou have a mental image of who they are
