[10:00]  Agent Heliosense: how about this, can you link the prims and make a copy of your whole exhibit

[10:01]  Agent Heliosense: there are a few steps to making this work
[10:01]  Agent Heliosense: ok

[10:01]  Agent Heliosense: first step would be, each of you go through the prims of your exhibit and turn all the prims to copy-modify -transfer on the prim
[10:02]  Agent Heliosense: that's the first step
[10:02]  Alisa Cleanslate: do you also check "share w/ group" , etc.
[10:02]  Agent Heliosense: yes that too
[10:02]  Dancers Yao: have tried...difficult to copy ring with slides.
[10:03]  Agent Heliosense: but first , got through each prim
[10:03]  Agent Heliosense: and turn it to copy-modify-transfer
[10:03]  Agent Heliosense: each image, texture, and prim has to be copy-modify-ttransfer, otherwise it won't work
[10:04]  Agent Heliosense: so you have to methodically go through each prim and check that, after doing so, i'll double check it too
[10:04]  Dancers Yao: okay...we will do this......what is time limit...would like to have some people visit, etc
[10:05]  Agent Heliosense: I know forgi made the satellite, looks liek that piece is ok
[10:05]  Dancers Yao: yes we checked with him...
[10:05]  Agent Heliosense: exhibit will still be up no worries
[10:05]  Agent Heliosense: but whenever you have a chance to check each prim, that's the first step
[10:05]  Dancers Yao: great...that helps. will do
[10:06]  Agent Heliosense: any other people have prims on the exhibit besides you 2 and forgi?
[10:06]  Agent Heliosense: next time the instruction will be much clearer from the get go.
[10:06]  Dancers Yao: yes Kasuku....she will be working on this too
[10:07]  Agent Heliosense: also, i will check peoples progress so we don't end up in this state where archiving the work is taking weeks

[10:08]  Dancers Yao: but it was making the links work to the web sites....sometimes you can't leave them linked to ring to work

[10:10]  Agent Heliosense: great ok so step 1 for everyone is this:
[10:10]  Agent Heliosense: go through each prim texture and script of your exhibit

[10:10]  Agent Heliosense: and turn them all to copy-modify-transfer
[10:10]  Agent Heliosense: that is step 1
[10:11]  Agent Heliosense: then, we'll go from there
[10:11]  Agent Heliosense: when I have 1 exhibit that is in that state we'll go further
[10:11]  Agent Heliosense: if you feel adventurious
[10:11]  Dancers Yao: Alisa....email me for time....whatever is good for you....we can work on both the slides, machinima, etc end of week?

[10:11]  Agent Heliosense: and practice packaging something you have built
[10:12]  Agent Heliosense: forgi was able to go through the steps and we got it to work
[10:12]  Agent Heliosense: so that's the method we are trying ultimately to use
[10:12]  Agent Heliosense: but
[10:12]  Agent Heliosense: the first step for Clara, Dancers, alisa , go through each prim of your exhibit
[10:12]  Agent Heliosense: and turn all textures, scripts and prims to copy-modify-transfer
[10:13]  Agent Heliosense: and set to Tech Exhibit Designer group (it may be already)
[10:13]  Agent Heliosense: no worries I'll work with you and
[10:13]  Agent Heliosense: making it copy-mod-trans will also allow you to make your own backup copy
[10:13]  Agent Heliosense: how about you Chara
[10:14]  Agent Heliosense: are you able to make your prims copy-modify-transfer

[10:23]  Agent Heliosense: is anyone interested in contributing design ideas for the building and grounds? I thoght in keeping with our open approach.
[10:23]  Agent Heliosense: that I would open this up as well!
[10:23]  Agent Heliosense: I'm preparing the basic guidelines
[10:23]  Agent Heliosense: essentially we will be putting together a sim for buidling exhibits
[10:23]  Agent Heliosense: anybody still with me?
[10:23]  Dancers Yao: how close should it be to the Tech in San Jose...
[10:24]  Dancers Yao: in terms of looks, etc.
[10:25]  Agent Heliosense: I'm preparing some guidelines, but basically describing will be an open area for building, with a main structure occupying about 1/4 or less of the sim area
[10:25]  Agent Heliosense: I'll have some basic guidelines on the site and will distribute to grouop
[10:25]  Agent Heliosense: designs can be sketches, etc.!
[10:26]  Agent Heliosense: Perry have you created an accoutn at http://thetechvirtual.org/createMember
[10:27]  Agent Heliosense: this is probably also easy to submit work, for example you can scan in a sketch
[10:27]  Agent Heliosense: or a map! Remember, sims are square and this will be located to the south of The Tech sim
[10:28]  Dancers Yao: I enjoyed the open atmoshpere of the first Tech museum, it was called The Garage....had places for people to set and talk about the internet revolution, this was in 1990! but I woulkd like ro see that same excitement in the sim......a new begininng for the next internet expression.

[10:29]  Chara Clawtooth: Dancers: was the Garage around the corner from the current Tech museum?
[10:29]  Dancers Yao: yes it was....how to design here....I think that's why I tried something round...an open space feel...
[10:29]  Agent Heliosense: so here's something concrete to do, either with pen and paper or with your draw and paint photoshop program
[10:30]  Agent Heliosense: take a square and do a top view of the perfiect sim area for dozens of peopel to design on
[10:30]  Agent Heliosense: Yes Chara as I understand our offices here are in that old building

[10:31]  Dancers Yao: It was across from the convention center also.
[10:31]  Agent Heliosense: right convention center is across the street
[10:32]  Dancers Yao: Also the food and snack bar were near the chairs....there was a lot of interaction with others that was easy in that space.
[10:33]  Dancers Yao: I think it's harder to do in a sim....to navigate easier so you can focus on the interaction with people
[10:34]  Chara Clawtooth: will this sim area be like the sandbox?
[10:34]  Dancers Yao: The sandbox dome is a great area
[10:34]  Chara Clawtooth: where groups of people can design together?
[10:35]  Dancers Yao: I like that setting...

[10:36]  Agent Heliosense: so think of areas you like in sl that accomplish this
[10:36]  Alisa Cleanslate: I like the dome also. But I was also thinking of open air with no roof to design.
[10:36]  Agent Heliosense: Yes, mostly building is not done indoors like this for various reasons!
[10:37]  Agent Heliosense: its very hard to build indoors!
[10:37]  Dancers Yao: yes I like that open feeling as well alisa
[10:37]  Agent Heliosense: is claustrophobic to boot!

[10:37]  Chara Clawtooth: I favor the open-air idea too. for some reason the fountain in cesar chavez park across from the tech comes to mind
[10:38]  Dancers Yao: yes that's a beautiful fountain
[10:38]  Chara Clawtooth: where people play and talk
[10:38]  Agent Heliosense: fountains are nice
[10:39]  Agent Heliosense: it's a good opportunity to make one of the most intersting sims in scilands I think
[10:39]  Agent Heliosense: oops we lost him
[10:39]  Dancers Yao: fountains give a focus for people as well, but doesn't close them in too much.
[10:40]  Agent Heliosense: so really, this can be hand sketched and scanned or digital either one
[10:40]  Agent Heliosense: but make it square
[10:40]  Agent Heliosense: consider also how to link it to the current sim,
[10:40]  Agent Heliosense: no division or maybe a bridge etc.
[10:41]  Agent Heliosense: lots of ideas are possible
[10:41]  Agent Heliosense: So I'll start a project and just join the project on the site
[10:41]  Agent Heliosense: I'll do this shortly after we are done here
[10:42]  Dancers Yao: can you have more open spaces at top, skylights....sky etc...trees?
[10:43]  Agent Heliosense: sure, design away! This isn't a competition for designing it,
[10:44]  Agent Heliosense: but likely we'll pull from many ideas so
[10:44]  Agent Heliosense: it's good to see these
[10:45]  Dancers Yao: I would just like to bring in some sense of The Tech history...it is special and spans the change in our information expression....
[10:46]  Dancers Yao: like the discussions people had about the future....how they would play a role...so the sim encourages this discussion here as welll, as it did in San Jose.
[10:47]  Agent Heliosense: sounds like you were part of those early days in person?
[10:47]  Dancers Yao: yes....I even had a free T shirt from the garage!
[10:47]  Alisa Cleanslate: cool
[10:48]  Dancers Yao: then I received one here recently...it made me think about the history, the changes, and the future of tech in our lives.
[10:48]  Agent Heliosense: oh my! if you 're still local you should stop in and visit!
[10:48]  Agent Heliosense: or maybe that happened with the previous round, before i started
[10:49]  Chara Clawtooth: Your experiences are so valuable. It would be interesting to recreate part of that atmosphere in SL
[10:49]  Agent Heliosense: I like the historical background leading to the new environments here, digitally.
[10:50]  Dancers Yao: No I don't live there now...in LA...but I often visit there. Have close friends who live there also.
[10:50]  Agent Heliosense: great well we are almost at 11
[10:51]  Agent Heliosense: so , i'll start the project, please join and participate, the
[10:51]  Agent Heliosense: building and grounds will be a project like exhibit project

[10:52]  Agent Heliosense: you are all the first batch to go through this process!
[10:52]  Chara Clawtooth: will the exhibits stay in Parkside Hall?
[10:53]  Dancers Yao: yes but how to save the links to sites...or does that matter?
[10:53]  Agent Heliosense: they will stay here for a while, but we are going to have to move them after they are saved
[10:54]  Agent Heliosense: Dancers the links can be saved yes, it requires the use of the moving kit
[10:54]  Agent Heliosense: that's why its rather complicated process
[10:54]  Agent Heliosense: otherwise, you could just link your exhibit and save it.
[10:54]  Agent Heliosense: if you have no links or moving parts then this is easier but most exhibits have all these scripts so that is why
[10:55]  Dancers Yao: have kit will try, then will probably ask again!
[10:55]  Agent Heliosense: we have to use this kit to ultimately preserve the exhibit
[10:55]  Agent Heliosense: try the kit process with some random prims
[10:55]  Dancers Yao: okay
[10:56]  Agent Heliosense: see where y ou have questions and don't worry we'll go from there
[10:56]  Dancers Yao: thx
[10:56]  Agent Heliosense: what i recommend is to simply shift + drag to copy at least the parts of your exhibit, to save your own work
[10:57]  Agent Heliosense: that way, if it gets returned to you for whatever reason, then you can reassemble things you built
[10:57]  Agent Heliosense: otherwise, you will have an inventory full of "object" things
[10:58]  Agent Heliosense: around the table, anyone have anything or questions for the meeting?

[11:01]  Dancers Yao: no the pic is not the final exhibit...how do we change it?
