Exhibit Builders meeting Aug. 29

[9:07]  You: wow, crowded today!
[9:07]  Alisa Cleanslate: haha
[9:07]  You: hi, Alisa
[9:08]  Alisa Cleanslate: Hi Stephe
[9:08]  Alisa Cleanslate: So is the archiving done?
[9:08]  You: of exhibits in the rezzer?
[9:08]  You: hi, Louren!
[9:08]  Alisa Cleanslate: Of Witness.
[9:08]  Agent Heliosense: just got this copy of it
[9:08]  Louren Fiertze: hi stephe
[9:09]  You: hi, agent, whatcha up to?
[9:09]  Agent Heliosense: hi
[9:09]  Agent Heliosense: just got this copy of univ. language from dancers
[9:09]  Bjorlyn Loon is Offline
[9:10]  Agent Heliosense: i am going to try the rezzer
[9:10]  You: cool
[9:10]  Alisa Cleanslate: Great
[9:11]  You: wow, it works!
[9:11]  Alisa Cleanslate: fantastic, Dancers will be thrilled.
[9:11]  You: the video will be more tricky
[9:11]  Agent Heliosense: um one moment
[9:14]  TechV-controllerV4: Clearing data and saving. Please wait ...
[9:14]  TechV-controllerV4: Done listening.
[9:15]  Agent Heliosense: i'll have to take it out of here to do it
[9:16]  Agent Heliosense: i'll try it outside of here
[9:17]  Agent Heliosense: ok
[9:17]  Agent Heliosense: you all are the first!
[9:17]  Agent Heliosense: to deliver
[9:17]  Agent Heliosense: the full exhibit
[9:17]  Agent Heliosense: all permissions!
[9:17]  Agent Heliosense: thank you Alisa and Dancers!
[9:17]  Alisa Cleanslate: Wow, great.
[9:17]  Agent Heliosense: i'll have to try the rezzer outside here though
[9:18]  Agent Heliosense: today, you can try it as well as planned
[9:18]  Agent Heliosense: i'd be so happy to be able to rez 1 exhibit
[9:18]  Agent Heliosense: excuse me leet me just get your notecard
[9:19]  You: one small step for an exhibit ...
[9:19]  Alisa Cleanslate: yay
[9:19]  Agent Heliosense: ok so you see
[9:20]  Agent Heliosense: you have delivered the trhee parts needed which are 1. the exhibit 2. a photo 3. a notecard
[9:21]  Agent Heliosense: whenever exhibits are installed
[9:21]  Agent Heliosense: somewhere other than here
[9:21]  Agent Heliosense: the video wwill not play unless it is set up specifically at that place
[9:21]  Agent Heliosense: so in the rezzer, it won't have a video for example
[9:21]  Alisa Cleanslate: right - parcels
[9:22]  Agent Heliosense: on the new sim we will be easily able to do parcels!
[9:22]  Agent Heliosense: so video will be much easier
[9:23]  Agent Heliosense: so i'll write up more instructions before next round
[9:23]  Agent Heliosense: about videos, textures etc.
[9:23]  Alisa Cleanslate: That will be helpful.
[9:24]  Agent Heliosense: i'm not aware of a way to play a video without parceling
[9:24]  Agent Heliosense: but i'll look into it
[9:24]  Agent Heliosense: it would be great but i don't think it works, and might rely on a 3rd party
[9:25]  Agent Heliosense: Louren, sorry do you have an exhibit buit here?
[9:25]  Agent Heliosense: built
[9:27]  Agent Heliosense: ok
[9:27]  Agent Heliosense: the problem this far has been, getting all the group members to turn their items to permission copy-mod-trans
[9:28]  Agent Heliosense: because they are not all on simultaneiously
[9:28]  Alisa Cleanslate: It's been a challenge.
[9:28]  Agent Heliosense: and also some confusion about that ownership and permissions
[9:29]  Agent Heliosense: So although each exhibit has to be copy-modify-transfer, this is for archival purposes
[9:30]  Agent Heliosense: the exhibit design work is "open source" for use by museums
[9:30]  Agent Heliosense: the Second Life objects are not shared amongst the group, or anyone else
[9:30]  Agent Heliosense: just archived.
[9:31]  JS Fargis: Hello all
[9:31]  Agent Heliosense: so I'm sure this was not clear before, and I'm really trying to compile it all for you
[9:31]  Agent Heliosense: hi JS
[9:31]  Alisa Cleanslate: hi Fargis
[9:32]  Agent Heliosense: JS this is where we go over the many details about being an exhibit designer at the tech!
[9:32]  Agent Heliosense: you can buy some of these things on the table, it will give you some of the materials
[9:32]  JS Fargis: ok, thank you...seems like a very interesting project
[9:33]  Agent Heliosense: so as you know we create a "project" on thetechvirtual.org which is an exhibit actually
[9:33]  Agent Heliosense: then, you create the exhibit design in SL
[9:34]  Agent Heliosense: soon you'll get your own lil' plot of land to do so!
[9:34]  Agent Heliosense: our next topic is Art-film-music-games and is starting later this year
[9:35]  JS Fargis: machinema?
[9:35]  You: sorry - was afk
[9:35]  You: hi, JS
[9:35]  JS Fargis: Hi
[9:35]  Agent Heliosense: yes there will also be a machinima part of it
[9:35]  Agent Heliosense: we are in-between these competitions / rounds of events
[9:36]  Agent Heliosense: http://flickr.com/photos/curiousexpeditions/sets/72157601118202126/
[9:36]  Agent Heliosense: in the meantime, if you are motivated to build leonardo da vinci machines
[9:36]  Agent Heliosense: it would be something you can workon
[9:37]  JS Fargis: yes, very cool..
[9:37]  Agent Heliosense: it ties into the real Tech Museum in San Jose CA
[9:37]  Agent Heliosense: that's where we are in RL
[9:37]  Agent Heliosense: http://thetech.org/leonardo/
[9:37]  JS Fargis: so far away for me now...I just moved to FL from Vegas
[9:37]  JS Fargis accepted your inventory offer.
[9:38]  Agent Heliosense: that's quite a move!
[9:38]  JS Fargis: yes,
[9:39]  Agent Heliosense: i already have 2 people working on the saw machine by da vinci
[9:39]  JS Fargis: So are people assigned a group and project/exhibit to work on?
[9:39]  Agent Heliosense: right, you can start one yourself on the website or,
[9:39]  Agent Heliosense: join an existing one
[9:39]  You: they get to pick one, or start their own
[9:40]  JS Fargis: ok
[9:40]  Agent Heliosense: So, maybe I'll start one for leonardo
[9:40]  You: hope you missed the hurricanes
[9:40]  Agent Heliosense: it's not a competition on that one
[9:41]  Agent Heliosense: considerably wetter than vegas!
[9:41]  JS Fargis: yes, lol very
[9:42]  JS Fargis: storms on both sides and we may get some of both. I am on the gulf coast..Tampa bay
[9:42]  Agent Heliosense: stay indoors and use Second Life ...
[9:42]  You: nice, I used to go to a lot of conferences in Sarasota
[9:43]  JS Fargis: cool
[9:43]  JS Fargis: The SLCC is here this year
[9:44]  You: ARVO: Assn. for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology
[9:44]  Agent Heliosense: oh right, are you going?
[9:44]  Agent Heliosense: it's next week i think
[9:45]  JS Fargis: I cannot....obligations
[9:45]  JS Fargis: :(
[9:45]  Alisa Cleanslate: what is SLCC
[9:45]  JS Fargis: Second Life convention
[9:45]  Agent Heliosense: Second Life community convention
[9:45]  JS Fargis: yes, what Agent said...hehe
[9:45]  Agent Heliosense: i think this is #4
[9:45]  Alisa Cleanslate: I thought it was in Florida
[9:46]  JS Fargis: Yes, Tampa
[9:46]  Alisa Cleanslate: So do you mean, it will be at The Tech in SL.
[9:47]  Agent Heliosense: no, it's in FLA
[9:47]  Agent Heliosense: i'm not sure of the SLCC in-world location
[9:47]  Agent Heliosense: JS do you build stuff in SL currently
[9:48]  Alisa Cleanslate: ok
[9:48]  Agent Heliosense accepted your inventory offer.
[9:48]  JS Fargis: yes, I sell some on SLExchange as well
[9:48]  Bjorlyn Loon is Online
[9:49]  JS Fargis: I love taking all the classes I can to learn more
[9:49]  JS Fargis: and explore SL for unusual places and things
[9:50]  You: well this place certainly qualifies ;-)
[9:50]  JS Fargis: yes, is why I was so interested to come back and learn more
[9:51]  Agent Heliosense: good, the unique thing here is that your design can be used in real museums
[9:51]  JS Fargis: very exciting and challenging too
[9:51]  Agent Heliosense: we work towards concepts for msueum exhibits,
[9:51]  JS Fargis: hmmm, that will get me thinking
[9:52]  Agent Heliosense: yes it is challenging! Espcially when you consider
[9:52]  Agent Heliosense: that the exhibit has a lifetime of several years
[9:52]  JS Fargis: spent all of eighth grade in museums, when I lived in DC (Smithsonian). yes, I skipped school///I learned more at the museums
[9:53]  Agent Heliosense: so 7 or 9 of our "graduates" have thier work installed or in progress to be installed
[9:53]  JS Fargis: nice
[9:53]  Agent Heliosense: of course, we maintain virtual exhibits as well
[9:54]  Agent Heliosense: this room is for building, but we are adding a sim to make this easier, then this room will be for permanent gallery installations
[9:54]  JS Fargis: that will be great
[9:55]  Agent Heliosense: i also have a project for input on the new sim design, layout
[9:55]  JS Fargis: oh?
[9:55]  Agent Heliosense: http://thetechvirtual.org/projects/ucantu-projects/dept-of-building-and-grounds/
[9:55]  Agent Heliosense: hi Dancers
[9:56]  Agent Heliosense: right and so I'm working on some ideas
[9:56]  Alisa Cleanslate: hi Dancers
[9:56]  Dancers Yao: Hi
[9:56]  Agent Heliosense: i'm making a list of things we will need such as
[9:56]  Agent Heliosense: windmills!
[9:57]  JS Fargis: ahh, old kind ( Dutch type?
[9:57]  Agent Heliosense: new shiny ones
[9:57]  Agent Heliosense: hehe
[9:57]  JS Fargis: ahh, the sleek ones
[9:58]  Agent Heliosense: sounds silly huh but the museum has a gallery for clean power tech
[9:58]  JS Fargis: not silly at all
[9:58]  JS Fargis: awareness
[9:58]  Agent Heliosense: thanks Dancers
[9:59]  Agent Heliosense: right so the exhibits we design, work on will be on themes matching these galleries
[9:59]  JS Fargis: ok
[10:00]  Agent Heliosense: 1. spirit of silicon valley 2. biotech 3. energy + clean tech 4. art-film-music-games 5. Tech Awards (same as UcanTu)

[10:01]  Dancers Yao: wow...missed that but thx
[10:02]  Agent Heliosense: i'm going to try it in rezzer later, out of this room which seems to have other objects of mine with scripts
[10:02]  Agent Heliosense: so i'll try it outside
[10:03]  Agent Heliosense: and, if you are ready we can try yours, the exhibit belongs to Dancers right?
