[9:55] Agent Heliosense: thanks for asking, still getting neighbor sims to approve via linden ticket
[9:56] Agent Heliosense: after that though it shoudl be online quickly
[9:56] Asterion Coen: great then :)
[9:56] Asterion Coen: and what about the musical-art-movie contest ? :)
[9:56] Agent Heliosense: still getting details,
[9:56] Agent Heliosense: and will likely start in oct.
[9:57] Agent Heliosense: in dec. we will have another one as well called "Collective Intelligence" or CIQ and based on the work of Doug Engelbart
[9:57] Agent Heliosense: both of these are in formation stages
[9:57] Asterion Coen: collective intelligence, looks like fun
[9:58] Agent Heliosense: ya if you google Doug Engelbart you can read about this Silicon Valley legend
[9:58] Agent Heliosense: oh and also the machinima thing, still getting details but it will likely be
[9:58] Agent Heliosense: non-fiction about Silicon Valley
[9:59] Asterion Coen: a non fiction, hmm hmm. a real reportage then :)
[9:59] Agent Heliosense: right, it should focus the topics
[9:59] Agent Heliosense: so, just putting all that together at the moment.
[10:00] Agent Heliosense: I'm also planning some parts of the new sim
[10:01] Agent Heliosense: and for example I'd like to have a small store space where group members could sell creations as in a museum store.
[10:01] Agent Heliosense: This is just a wild idea but Stephe said it's ok,
[10:01] Agent Heliosense: hi Caita
[10:01] Agent Heliosense: pls join
[10:01] Catia Himmel: hi
[10:01] Asterion Coen: i still got a nice skyscraper if u want ;)
[10:01] Asterion Coen: not primy, lot of floors :)
[10:02] Agent Heliosense: For example, if you build something science related, it could go there
[10:02] Catia Himmel: :)
[10:02] Asterion Coen: hi cat :)
[10:02] Agent Heliosense: I'm imagining, perhaps Da Vinci machine models, spacecraft, science instruments, orreries etc.
[10:02] Agent Heliosense: hi Catia
[10:02] Agent Heliosense: please join us we are just talking about our new sim!
[10:03] Catia Himmel: hi
[10:03] Asterion Coen: i got some science related stuffs in my inv ;)
[10:03] Asterion Coen: the concorde for exemple is a good exemple :=)
[10:03] Asterion Coen: it's construction bring a lot of new technologies
[10:04] Asterion Coen: actualy used in space, industries and plane industries
[10:04] Agent Heliosense: Catia what you see here in this space are exhibit designs for use in a museum
[10:04] Agent Heliosense: and the members of the group design museum exhibits,
[10:05] Catia Himmel: everything in here is interesting!
[10:05] Agent Heliosense: up to 7 or so have gone on to be installed in some form in our real life museum
[10:05] Agent Heliosense: in San Jose CA
[10:05] Agent Heliosense: our website is http://www.thetechvirtual.org
[10:05] Agent Heliosense: also, i'm thinking about windmills for wind power
[10:05] Agent Heliosense: on the new sim
[10:05] Agent Heliosense: and, we need water power and also solar
[10:06] Asterion Coen: some thermic ones too ? :)
[10:06] Agent Heliosense: geothermal? that's a good idea too
[10:06] Asterion Coen: with that u got all the collecion :)
[10:06] Asterion Coen: nuclear too
[10:06] Asterion Coen: maybe the mre viable of all
[10:07] Asterion Coen: more
[10:08] Agent Heliosense: hehe that would be something else
[10:08] Agent Heliosense: I'm not sure it's allowed in CA even!
[10:10] Asterion Coen: the solar, winds, thermal, etc, that's fine, but they never will be abble to give all the necessary power once the oil will be too costly, or when it will desapear
[10:10] Asterion Coen: actualy only the nuclear is abble to replace it
[10:11] Asterion Coen: the only issues with that is about the cost to treat the radioactivity components and the politics
[10:11] Asterion Coen: but about technologies, if scrictly applyed, there is no any danger
[10:11] Agent Heliosense: I know France makes extensive use of nuclear
[10:12] Asterion Coen: most of other countries in europe too r now going to that way
[10:12] Asterion Coen: like the germany that stoped the nuclear activity a deceny ago
[10:12] Agent Heliosense: I believe it to be politically unpopular in our state from what I've heard
[10:13] Agent Heliosense: however, wind, solar, and water make everyone glow with happiness
[10:13] Asterion Coen: the prob of the nuclear, is what the medias or other lobbies use to say about it
[10:13] Asterion Coen: pp; r affraid about a technologie they ignore all about it
[10:13] Asterion Coen: they see a nuclear central like a tchernobil power supply or some hiroshima bombs
[10:14] Agent Heliosense: likelly it is the long-term waste issue and also they suspect use for weapons production.
[10:15] Asterion Coen: if nuclear central manager apply stricly the rules and the procedures, there is no danger (now those procedure can be costly to apply, so some use to ignore some of them, going time to time to some accidents)
[10:15] Agent Heliosense: right, after Chernobyl and 3 mile island they are not willing to risk it
[10:15] Agent Heliosense: hi Stephe
[10:15] Stephe Roux: hi, Asterion
[10:15] Asterion Coen: same about the reclycle of the nuclear stuffs, we perfectly know how to recyvle it
[10:16] Asterion Coen: but it's cost is expensive and no rentable
[10:16] Asterion Coen: the "no rentable" word is an issue
[10:16] Asterion Coen: so, that's most a politic question than a technology one
[10:16] Stephe Roux: "no rentable"?
[10:16] Agent Heliosense: that would make a welcome area of research!
[10:17] Asterion Coen: stepe we r talking about nucleal :)
[10:17] Asterion Coen: nuclear
[10:17] Agent Heliosense: Removing radioactivity or waste disposal beyond burying
[10:18] Stephe Roux: c'est a dire: l'energie n'est pas rentable a cause du problem de dechets radioactive?
[10:18] Asterion Coen: if all procedure applyed correctly we shouldnt have to depoluate a site as it cant be contamined (with the rights buildings)
[10:18] Asterion Coen: stephe the nuclear is rentable
[10:19] Asterion Coen: not the treatment of the radioactive component once used
[10:19] Asterion Coen: we can recycle them easely
[10:19] Asterion Coen: and with no danger
[10:19] Asterion Coen: but that very exepensive
[10:19] Asterion Coen: we can use them to produce electricity, but it will cost more than it will bring money
[10:20] Asterion Coen: that's the reason the company use to "hide" it
[10:20] Asterion Coen: and put it on the sea or other hidden area
[10:20] Asterion Coen: or some other stokage areas
[10:20] Agent Heliosense: like cruise ships!
[10:20] Asterion Coen: but all is relative
[10:21] Asterion Coen: france stoped to pump oil on it territory as it was not rentable
[10:21] Asterion Coen: now with the hight cost of the oil, they r working again
[10:21] Agent Heliosense: exactly
[10:22] Asterion Coen: maybe that will be the same with radioactive stuffs
[10:22] Asterion Coen: as they r abble to produce energy
[10:22] Asterion Coen: or if we discover a low cost way to use them
[10:22] Asterion Coen: actualy it's better to stok them
[10:22] Asterion Coen: stock
[10:23] Asterion Coen: butafter the oil, i dont see some other way to produce enough energy for the whole planet
[10:24] Asterion Coen: excepted by covering all the oceans with eolienes, and put solar panel everywhere
[10:24] Agent Heliosense: Great point Asterion I believe Silicon Valley is focused on the question!
[10:24] Agent Heliosense: by the way, the real life Tech Museum is getting solar panels
[10:24] Asterion Coen: USA actualy is studying about focus it's energy politic in nuclear power plants
[10:25] Asterion Coen: as i think all countires abble to have that technology in the world
[10:25] Agent Heliosense: right, I think the oil issue has pushed this up in priority once again
[10:25] Stephe Roux: it's a very political question - depends who wins the Nov election
[10:25] Asterion Coen: what ever who will win
[10:25] Asterion Coen: there is no other alternative actualy
[10:26] Agent Heliosense: Just as in the 1970's when oil crisis, nuclear became of interest
[10:26] Asterion Coen: pannel solar systems on scycrapers, or other building dont provide enough energy to be independant
[10:26] Asterion Coen: that just reduce the need of external providers
[10:27] Agent Heliosense: As I understand areas in CA are against nuclear, which has pushed the motive to reasearch the others like electric cars, solar, etc.
[10:27] Asterion Coen: funny for the CA
[10:28] Asterion Coen: as they pay a lot electricity that is not working everytime
[10:28] Agent Heliosense: hehe Asterion you must keep up with news worldwide
[10:28] Asterion Coen: i would say CA pay realy expensive an electricity they could have for lot less expensive
[10:29] Asterion Coen: and if i_ recall weell, i part of the CA electricity come from some nuclear power plants
[10:29] Asterion Coen: i = a
[10:29] Agent Heliosense: One positive is, if you start a business with alternative energy product, you can present this to funders
[10:29] Asterion Coen: there is a lot of alternative stuffs
[10:30] Asterion Coen: only one will be viable and abble to replace the oil
[10:30] Agent Heliosense: this is the Silicon Valley approach, because nuclear is not an option at the moment or at lleast, one cannot just startup in the back yard
[10:30] Asterion Coen: no ones actaly know witch one
[10:31] Asterion Coen: silicon should get a look in the near san fransisco city
[10:31] Asterion Coen: with it's forest of eolienes
[10:32] Asterion Coen: if u want to have the country filled with winds stuffs (big, ugly and noicy) that's ok
[10:32] Asterion Coen: but what ever, that wont provide all the necessary electricity
[10:32] Agent Heliosense: I've seen some new designs that are vertical, like skyscrapers
[10:33] Agent Heliosense: not like eolienes
[10:33] Agent Heliosense: do you think these are viable?
[10:33] Asterion Coen: yes, also the NY major think about add some eolienne over the skyscrapers
[10:33] Asterion Coen: that with adding solar systems too
[10:34] Asterion Coen: but if u want to replace oil or other by eolienes+solar pannel+thermal stuffs, it will be lot more exepensive and domagable for the enviromnent than nuclear
[10:35] Asterion Coen: nuclear power plant only reject water in atmosphere
[10:35] Agent Heliosense: That would definitely be interesting to see in SL
[10:35] Asterion Coen: after, that's a question of recycling the radio activity
[10:36] Agent Heliosense: I'm very uninformed about EU nuclear, is there a waste disposal issue?
[10:36] Asterion Coen: we r good about recycling, but costly
[10:36] Agent Heliosense: In US we have large underground facilities, and these are highly controversial always
[10:37] Asterion Coen: but nuclear in europe is about like the ones all over the world, we just got some advance bcause we focus on that strategy for decenies
[10:38] Asterion Coen: usa got some old central power plant, i dont remember who told (obama or mccain) usa got about 10 years lost about nuclear
[10:38] Asterion Coen: aslo the media issues
[10:39] Asterion Coen: media like the sensasional and all that can be dramatic or apocalyptic
[10:39] Agent Heliosense: this is true, it was hysteria
[10:39] Asterion Coen: also, most of ppl r not well informed about that technology
[10:40] Asterion Coen: we use that in france from the 1960th, or less, we never saw dramatic accidents
[10:40] Asterion Coen: tchsernobil was dramatic bcause they didnt respected the rules and procedures + some humain factors
[10:40] Asterion Coen: and it was an old power plant too
[10:41] Agent Heliosense: it came about the same time as the microwave oven, and so like that, the fear of the invisible is significant
[10:41] Agent Heliosense: those dang human factors!
[10:42] Agent Heliosense: Asterion you know the museum here also has a gallery on power and the environment, maybe we can do exhibit design on that when it comes around.
[10:42] Asterion Coen: note that about all the dramatic accident about nuclear came from military issues (like crashed B-52 or other russian stuffs)
[10:42] Asterion Coen: not a lot about cililian ones
[10:43] Asterion Coen: sur
[10:43] Asterion Coen: e
[10:44] Asterion Coen: i suppose i will to receve some rocks if i build some nuclear power plants :)
[10:44] Asterion Coen: (also im not a nuclear ingeneer, so i will have to contact some other folk to have info about power plants - witch use to be classified
[10:44] Asterion Coen: especialy the new ones and future projects
[10:45] Agent Heliosense: right, since the musuem here has these exhibits, I thought to incorporate this into the sim
[10:46] Agent Heliosense: it's an educational thing, and it's popular at the moment, people become enthusiastic by it
[10:46] Agent Heliosense: and, as I understand there are startups working in the area too, making various products
[10:47] Asterion Coen: yes hehe
