Weekly meeting chat log
[13:05] Agent Heliosense: hi
[13:05] Marii Giovinazzo: hello
[13:05] Agent Heliosense: hi seafore
[13:06] Seafore Perl: Thar he goes!
[13:06] Auden Breguet: howdy
[13:06] Seafore Perl: Hello, Agent.
[13:06] Agent Heliosense: hi sorry to be a bit late, had a crash on starting sl!
[13:06] Marii Giovinazzo: oh no, did he crash again?
[13:06] Agent Heliosense: please do join
[13:06] Seafore Perl: We can head in here to the table. He's in there.
[13:06] You shout: over here at the table
[13:07] Agent Heliosense: hi auder hi marii
[13:07] Agent Heliosense: how did you all find us here?
[13:07] Marii Giovinazzo: hello
[13:07] Seafore Perl: Oronoque will be joining us. She had an rl thing she had to do.
[13:07] Auden Breguet: Taking a libraryies and museums course through Alliance
[13:07] Seafore Perl: I used the lm in search.
[13:07] Auden Breguet: and UIUC's GSLIS
[13:07] Agent Heliosense: oh ok, which Alliance is that?
[13:08] Auden Breguet: They sent us a notice
[13:08] Auden Breguet: Alliance Library Systems
[13:08] Marii Giovinazzo: ok, what is UIUC?
[13:08] Auden Breguet: University of Illinois Urbana Champaign
[13:08] Agent Heliosense: oh wow interestgin i've seen many library projects poppin gup in second life
[13:08] Auden Breguet: They have a Virtual Worlds Continuing Ed program with Allicances
[13:09] Marii Giovinazzo: oh, that's what i thought, i'm taking courses at ISU
[13:09] Marii Giovinazzo: in RL
[13:09] Auden Breguet: Nice, how's Normal these days?
[13:09] Marii Giovinazzo: no, i'm in a cohort in Joliet
[13:09] Agent Heliosense: Do you all have a sim?
[13:09] Agent Heliosense: for your library and school activities?
[13:09] Marii Giovinazzo: i dont think ISU has a sim, will need to check
[13:10] Auden Breguet: No.
[13:10] Seafore Perl: Which ISU, Illinois?
[13:10] Agent Heliosense: interesting you never know who you'll meet up with!
[13:10] Marii Giovinazzo: Yes, Illinois State University
[13:10] Marii Giovinazzo: Auden how do you like IL sim?
[13:10] Seafore Perl: I see. Same initials as Iowa State U.
[13:10] Marii Giovinazzo: or the Alliance library sim
[13:11] Agent Heliosense: is that a class on virtual worlds or how does it involve virtual world smay I ask
[13:11] Marii Giovinazzo: Auden enlighten us
[13:11] Auden Breguet: The ALS/UIUC partnership is offering about 8 different courses now.
[13:11] Auden Breguet: Lemme get the URL
[13:11] Marii Giovinazzo: wow, that's great
[13:12] Marii Giovinazzo: so you mean we can take courses for credit in SL?
[13:12] Auden Breguet: Continuing Ed/Prof development
[13:12] Marii Giovinazzo: SUPER
[13:12] Agent Heliosense: interesting stuff is that what you are doing now then, are you enrolled now?
[13:12] Agent Heliosense: sorry to pepper you with questions!
[13:13] Agent Heliosense: hi Oronoque
[13:13] Marii Giovinazzo: hey Oronoque glad you made it back.
[13:13] Oronoque Westland: I forgot I was in the entryway
[13:13] Auden Breguet: Not a problem. Yeah, I'm pretty much taking their entire syllabus.
[13:13] Oronoque Westland: my camera was on Seafroe so my eyes were in here
[13:13] Marii Giovinazzo: I will definitely check itout.
[13:13] Agent Heliosense: interesting
[13:13] Auden Breguet: www.lis.uiuc.edu/programs/cpd/VW
[13:13] Marii Giovinazzo: Auden, how are you liking it?
[13:13] Seafore Perl: Easy with the pov to forget where you parked your av. I do that all the time!
[13:14] Agent Heliosense: ours is "The Tech Virtual" and our url is http://www.thetechvirtual.org
[13:14] Auden Breguet: Fascinating stuff; I'm a computer scientiest by training but a librarian by employment
[13:14] Oronoque Westland: I forget where I park in RL too
[13:14] Auden Breguet: It's a good mix for me.
[13:14] Auden Breguet: A scientist who can't spell.
[13:14] Marii Giovinazzo: lol
[13:14] Agent Heliosense: wow so have you attended the Intro to Museums in Virtual Worlds classes?
[13:15] Agent Heliosense: i didn't know about it
[13:15] Auden Breguet: No, I'm taking setting up a Lib or Museum instead.
[13:15] Oronoque Westland: Auden and I are in the UIUC course together
[13:15] Marii Giovinazzo: setting up a lib in SL?
[13:16] Auden Breguet: Yes.
[13:16] Marii Giovinazzo: Oh, how great.
[13:16] Agent Heliosense: grand well that's really focused!
[13:16] Auden Breguet: Indeed, Oronoque can tell you much more, she's further along than myself.
[13:16] Marii Giovinazzo: would love to kknow more
[13:16] Oronoque Westland: it's a great class, but I would say it is more weighted towards libraries
[13:16] Auden Breguet: It is.
[13:17] Oronoque Westland: that was why I was so pleased
[13:17] Oronoque Westland: to find out about this discussion
[13:17] Auden Breguet: same here.
[13:17] Agent Heliosense: great well we have a unique program here.
[13:17] Marii Giovinazzo: so libraries do have a future!
[13:17] Oronoque Westland: plus I went through the tutorial in the museum earlier
[13:18] Agent Heliosense: so i'll just breifly orient, we have 2 components, 1. a virtual museum and 2. an exhibit workshop
[13:18] Auden Breguet: Libraries definitely have a future, it's the present that's troubling.
[13:18] Oronoque Westland: I think the SL librarians have been doing a remarkable job
[13:18] Oronoque Westland: I am only now starting to discover museum SIMs
[13:18] Marii Giovinazzo: yes, i know
[13:18] Agent Heliosense: Oronoque what's most useful for libraries in SL ?
[13:19] Agent Heliosense: in using SL? I've seen a few book projects only.
[13:19] Oronoque Westland: I am a user, not a librarian
[13:19] Oronoque Westland: but I find their interactive aspects
[13:19] Oronoque Westland: very useful/instructive
[13:19] Marii Giovinazzo: are there book discussions taking place ?
[13:19] Agent Heliosense: can you "browse the shelves" is that the idea ?
[13:19] Oronoque Westland: as an educator I try to model some of what they do
[13:19] Auden Breguet: Marii: Lots of book discussions.
[13:19] Seafore Perl: They have some book discussion groups in sl.
[13:20] Oronoque Westland: there are book discussions
[13:20] Marii Giovinazzo: i need to find some, love reading
[13:20] Oronoque Westland: also some period SIMs like Land of Lincoln
[13:20] Agent Heliosense: interesting yes Land of Lincoln is adjacent to us on the Teen Grid
[13:20] Agent Heliosense: we have this same sim on the Teen Grid, the workshop sim
[13:20] Oronoque Westland: there is also a SIM called Bradburyville
[13:20] Oronoque Westland: with a holobook
[13:21] Oronoque Westland: where you experience the story
[13:21] Marii Giovinazzo: cool
[13:21] Agent Heliosense: So what's going on here is this is for the Q&A we all need to find out what's goin gon
[13:21] Oronoque Westland: have you been to Land of Lincoln in SL...I believe it is more developed than on the Teen Grid
[13:21] Agent Heliosense: and here, we use Sl to design museum exhbiits, and interactive content for use in museums, specifically science museums
[13:22] Marii Giovinazzo: i have not been to L of Lincoln yet
[13:22] Agent Heliosense: and of course we are a real - life museum located in San Jose, CA http://www.thetech.org
[13:22] Auden Breguet: So, are you developing SL museums or Prototyping for RL?
[13:22] Agent Heliosense: prototyping for RL.
[13:22] Auden Breguet: Fanstastic.
[13:22] Agent Heliosense: any other content is nice and can be viewed in SL but that is not our focus
[13:23] Agent Heliosense: so for example, we have 7 exhibits wich are on the floor here in San Jose that came directly from prototypin gin Second Life
[13:23] Oronoque Westland: I found your tutorial very helpful in helping to shape how I think about my SL builds
[13:23] Agent Heliosense: the one in the basement of the virtual museum/
[13:24] Oronoque Westland: I TP'd so it could have been anywhere (smile)
[13:24] Agent Heliosense: where you clidk on the blue cards?
[13:24] Oronoque Westland: on your map...#7
[13:24] Agent Heliosense: oh ok well i think we only have one anyway!
[13:25] Oronoque Westland: I was especially struck by the need to draw your visitor in, for the interface to be intuitive, and the "wow"
[13:25] Oronoque Westland: that you want to convey
[13:25] Agent Heliosense: it's authored by Nina Simon who's at http://museumtwo.blogspot.com/
[13:25] Agent Heliosense: another great resource there.
[13:26] Agent Heliosense: We provide a place where you can build your idea and enter it into topic based contests
[13:26] Agent Heliosense: we can allot you a place to build, and our upcoming "round" is
[13:27] Agent Heliosense: to design a science challenge for youth which we call Tech Challenge http://techchallenge.thetech.org/
[13:27] Agent Heliosense: it starts next week~!
[13:27] Agent Heliosense: http://techchallenge.thetech.org/
[13:28] Agent Heliosense: Your task is to design a challenge for youth grades 5 through 12 that introduces and reinforces the scientific process with a hands-on project geared to solve a real-world problem
[13:28] Agent Heliosense: Your entry should suggest a real-world problem and its likely solutions that could be built as prototypes by students as their entry into the Tech Challenge competition.
[13:28] Oronoque Westland: I can pass on this information to my contacts
[13:28] Agent Heliosense: the suggestions that are chosen or used to develop a Tech Challenge win a $200 USD reward
[13:29] Oronoque Westland: my own area is in the social sciences...higher ed
[13:29] Agent Heliosense: We'll roll it out next week, and if you'd like to get started building, I can allot you a space!
[13:30] Agent Heliosense: this round will run through mid January
[13:30] Agent Heliosense: you all must be reading web pages.... this will also be rolled out on the teen grid as well,
[13:30] Marii Giovinazzo: and one registers to participate?
[13:31] Agent Heliosense: yes here's the url
[13:31] Agent Heliosense: http://thetechvirtual.org/createMember
[13:31] Auden Breguet: I just found out about this discussion today, but I have another meeting.
[13:31] Auden Breguet: Does this take place every week?
[13:31] Agent Heliosense: the project template is not up yet however
[13:31] Agent Heliosense: yes! generally at 10AM TUE AND FRI
[13:32] Agent Heliosense: our classes are 11AM WED AND 12PM THU
[13:32] Oronoque Westland: please describe the classes a bit
[13:32] Agent Heliosense: today we adjusted time around an RL meeting which
[13:32] Auden Breguet: Thanks so much. I'll check back soon. See you tomorrow Oronoque!
[13:32] Agent Heliosense: can happen
[13:32] Agent Heliosense: ok Auden
[13:32] Oronoque Westland: until
[13:32] Marii Giovinazzo: bye auden
[13:33] Auden Breguet: bye all.
[13:33] Seafore Perl: See you Auden.
[13:33] Oronoque Westland: have a great night
[13:33] Agent Heliosense: bye Auden
[13:33] Marii Giovinazzo: ok, so is this challenge open to anyone?
[13:33] Agent Heliosense: so does it sound liek something understandable? "Design a challenge" ?
[13:34] Agent Heliosense: yes! It's great to involve folks with specific backgrounds too. for example we have 1 person with a background in genetics who's around a lot
[13:34] Agent Heliosense: there are other people with interests in anything from native american art to programming
[13:35] Oronoque Westland: I think it's great to have the challenge...plus have the building going on in the open
[13:35] Oronoque Westland: we learn so much from one another
[13:35] Marii Giovinazzo: yes, we do Oronoque
[13:35] Agent Heliosense: the challenge is generrally a sceinece or engineering challenge. There's a big list of examples of previous challenges such as a lunar rover, a rope-climbing machine, a volcano mission, things of this nature
[13:36] Agent Heliosense: we even have some mountains and water int which to simulate things
[13:36] Agent Heliosense: generally the teams of kids spend less than $50USD on their solution
[13:36] Agent Heliosense: hi Lydia!
[13:37] Lydia Milner: Hi Agent, Hi all
[13:37] Oronoque Westland: hello Lydia
[13:37] Marii Giovinazzo: Hello Lydia
[13:37] Agent Heliosense: Lydia here is one of our exhibit designers from the previous rounds
[13:37] Lydia Milner: Hello :)
[13:37] Seafore Perl: Hi Lydia.
[13:38] Agent Heliosense: I was just explaining that next week we are starting the Tech Challenge - Design a Challenge
[13:38] Lydia Milner: Hi Seafore, I found your exhibit very interesting, very emotive.
[13:38] Seafore Perl: Thanks, Lydia.
[13:38] Agent Heliosense: http://techchallenge.thetech.org/ and I'll have some info up by next week
[13:38] Agent Heliosense: and. if you want to start early i'll asssign a plot
[13:38] Agent Heliosense: or you can pick one that is
[13:39] Agent Heliosense: aslo maybe the geography of the sim will be useful, it just occurred to me
[13:39] Seafore Perl: Agent, is the art, games, music etc. done or is that still upcoming?
[13:39] Agent Heliosense: the idea is to simulate some likely solutions to your challenge, show how this would be presented to a team of kids
[13:39] Agent Heliosense: yes Art-film-music-games is still upcoming.
[13:39] Seafore Perl: thanks.
[13:40] Agent Heliosense: we're more or less waiting for some specifics on what resources might be available for those exhibits
[13:40] Agent Heliosense: and what the more specific focus might be
[13:40] Agent Heliosense: in the meantime, we will do Tech Challenge
[13:40] Seafore Perl: I see.
[13:41] Agent Heliosense: by the way, challenges chosen by the Tech Challenge team will receive a reward of $200 USD
[13:41] Agent Heliosense: and this will happen in January...... advance notice! I'll type up the details soon
[13:41] Lydia Milner: What is the weather like in CA in Jan?
[13:42] Agent Heliosense: so there will be a template to submit those challenges, it's going up on the site soon
[13:42] Agent Heliosense: http://thetechvirtual.org/createMember
[13:43] Agent Heliosense: Weather, well it is cool but not wintry here in San Jose
[13:43] Marii Giovinazzo: San Jose is a great city.
[13:43] Oronoque Westland: Agent, could you talk a bit about the classes please
[13:43] Agent Heliosense: night low 40's F and day 60's or so depends
[13:43] Agent Heliosense: surely!
[13:43] Lydia Milner: yes it is
[13:44] Agent Heliosense: our classes happen 11 AM on WED and 12PM on THU
[13:44] Lydia Milner: oh ok thanks Agent
[13:44] Agent Heliosense: We do a bunch of things from how to rez and cut a prim to physical objects to scripting and collaborative building
[13:45] Agent Heliosense: Oronoque are you teaching in SL by chance/
[13:45] Oronoque Westland: is it tailored towards museum building?
[13:45] Oronoque Westland: not yet...I teach blended courses using Blackboard
[13:45] Agent Heliosense: Yes, the focus is on designing interactive exhibits and the tools to do so
[13:46] Agent Heliosense: we don't teach clothing or vehicles generally!
[13:46] Oronoque Westland: I am developing a brownstone in Virtual Harlem to use in the Spring Term
[13:46] Marii Giovinazzo: who do you teach for Oronoque?
[13:46] Oronoque Westland: with my students
[13:46] Agent Heliosense: we do work on basics, and then people are around who also offer things like scripts and input
[13:46] Oronoque Westland: Hunter College...a campus of the City University of new York
[13:47] Agent Heliosense: it's a great time, Seafore here has brought a lot to the classes especially interactive building
[13:47] Lydia Milner: oh how wonderful, what kind of age range are your studnets?
[13:47] Lydia Milner: students
[13:47] Agent Heliosense: that Q for Oronoque I believe
[13:47] Lydia Milner: sorry, yes
[13:47] Oronoque Westland: yes, they are generally 20-25
[13:47] Oronoque Westland: many are part time students
[13:48] Oronoque Westland: so it takes more than the usual 4 years
[13:48] Lydia Milner: yes, evening classes?
[13:48] Oronoque Westland: I teach both day and evening
[13:48] Agent Heliosense: what's the topic of your class Oronoque, what department in the university?
[13:48] Oronoque Westland: I teach Caribbean history and politics
[13:48] Agent Heliosense: I wonder if anyone has gotten a 4 year degree attending in SL !!
[13:49] Lydia Milner: Adult ed takes a lot of dedication and good time mangt :)
[13:49] Oronoque Westland: definitely
[13:49] Lydia Milner: lol, there is no SL degree, yet :)
[13:49] Oronoque Westland: I am finishing a second masters
[13:49] Blossoms Kungfu: hi all
[13:49] Lydia Milner: wow, well done!
[13:49] Agent Heliosense: hi blossoms
[13:49] Lydia Milner: Hi Blossoms
[13:49] Oronoque Westland: I did both in under 2 years, one F2F in 1985 and the current one online
[13:50] Seafore Perl: Hello, blossoms.
[13:50] Oronoque Westland: I seem to be the exception timewise
[13:50] Marii Giovinazzo: Hi Blossoms
[13:50] Lydia Milner: lol, yes you are :)
[13:50] Oronoque Westland: Hello Blossom
[13:50] Agent Heliosense: Blossoms we're discussing virtual classes and museum content prototyped in second life
[13:50] Oronoque Westland: Blossoms*
[13:50] Agent Heliosense: and our site is http://thetechvirtual.org
[13:50] Oronoque Westland: Virtual Harlem is set in the 1920s and 30s
[13:51] Agent Heliosense: what sim is that on Oronoque
[13:51] Oronoque Westland: so my brownstone has to fit into that period
[13:51] Oronoque Westland: Virtual Harlem...I rent a brownstone there
[13:51] Oronoque Westland: that is why i felt I could learn a lot from the SL museums
[13:51] Oronoque Westland: VH is a bit like a living museum
[13:52] Agent Heliosense: exactly
[13:52] Agent Heliosense: interactive, immersive
[13:52] Oronoque Westland: YES
[13:52] Lydia Milner: Oronogue, a chap called Ethelred Weatherwax has built an older museum in SL, a much older time period if I remember rightly, he may be worth alook up for you
[13:52] Lydia Milner: gosh there is so much you could do with Harlem in that timeframe
[13:53] Oronoque Westland: thanks...I'll do that
[13:53] Agent Heliosense: Blossoms how did you find us today
[13:53] Oronoque Westland: the owner's field is literature
[13:53] Oronoque Westland: which is wonderful for the period
[13:53] Blossoms Kungfu: ty, i will take a look
[13:53] Lydia Milner: and music at VH?
[13:53] Oronoque Westland: yes
[13:54] Oronoque Westland: a few theaters and jazz clubs
[13:54] Blossoms Kungfu: i found you in search, i was away for a bit
[13:54] Oronoque Westland: a church, libraries
[13:54] Lydia Milner: lovely :) I will visit soon, I love the good ol jazz
[13:54] Agent Heliosense: so many interesting things going on, it's hard to catch it all
[13:55] Oronoque Westland: that's why I have maxed my group membership
[13:55] Oronoque Westland: so I can get all the notices
[13:55] Marii Giovinazzo: will have to visit there, looks interesting
[13:55] Agent Heliosense: Blossoms since you just joined I'll just repeat that at tech virtual here you can obtain a parcel to build interactive museum content
[13:55] Lydia Milner: On that subject Agent, sorry I have not been able to attend these meetings for a while, what are the upcoming challenges/exhibits here?
[13:55] Agent Heliosense: yes the upcoming is: Tech Challenge - Design a Challenge
[13:56] Blossoms Kungfu: wow!, thats cool!
[13:56] Agent Heliosense: Your task is to design a challenge for youth grades 5 through 12 that introduces and reinforces the scientific process with a hands-on project geared to solve a real-world problem.
[13:56] Marii Giovinazzo: I have to go, will share the challenge with other educators in my area, thanks for the info.
[13:56] Agent Heliosense: Your entry should suggest a real-world problem and its likely solutions that could be built as prototypes by students as their entry into the Tech Challenge competition.
[13:56] Agent Heliosense: ok Marii
[13:56] Lydia Milner: I thought last year's sounded great fun, how they had to find a way to get water uphill to a village
[13:56] Marii Giovinazzo: see you again sometime, bye all
[13:56] Lydia Milner: Bye Marii, nice to meet Agent Heliosense:)
[13:56] Seafore Perl: Take care, Marii.
[13:57] Agent Heliosense: so in this one, you are designing a challenge and showing how this might be set up for the teams to do
[13:57] Agent Heliosense: it's a type of modeling of a design or engineering challenge
[13:57] Agent Heliosense: like, making a lunar rover or like Lydia says moving water up a mountain,
[13:57] Seafore Perl: So it's pretty open this time, no particular challenge theme?
[13:57] Agent Heliosense: or delivering a scientific instrument into a volcano
[13:57] Agent Heliosense: it should be a science based challenge
[13:58] Seafore Perl: But any area of science?
[13:58] Oronoque Westland: one exciting thing about your challenge is that it has RL practical applications
[13:58] Agent Heliosense: or, for example a real-world problem
[13:58] Agent Heliosense: that can be solved by kids building a model solution
[13:58] Agent Heliosense: yes, the Tech Challenge will occur in real life of course
[13:59] Agent Heliosense: so it's a hands-on thing, get kids designing making, and thinking about solving problems
[13:59] Agent Heliosense: for example there was one where they had to retrieve a barrel from under the ice
[13:59] Lydia Milner: and these are teenage kids is that right?
[14:00] Agent Heliosense: in the sea. This simulated waste retrieval.
[14:00] Agent Heliosense: yes ages 10-17 approx
[14:01] Agent Heliosense: like I don't see oil spills on the list.... I would think there must be some problems still needing to be solved involving oil spills... this is just an example
[14:01] Agent Heliosense: It came to mind since we had one here recently!
[14:01] Lydia Milner: ouch!
[14:02] Agent Heliosense: Ya they ran a large ship into the San Francisco Bay Bridge and ripped a big hole in it and out came 50K gallons I think
[14:02] Agent Heliosense: which is a small spill but major crisis, luckily it was quicliy cleaned up
[14:02] Lydia Milner: oh my gosh, that didnt hit the news here, that I saw
[14:02] Agent Heliosense: about a year ago....
[14:02] Lydia Milner: ah ok
[14:02] Oronoque Westland: I need to get going, but I am glad I now know that you are here...hope to be back next week for the classes as well
[14:02] Agent Heliosense: to me that's "recent" lol
[14:03] Agent Heliosense: ok Oronoque
[14:03] Seafore Perl: Nice meeting you Oronoque.
[14:03] Lydia Milner: Bye Oronogue, it has been good to meet you
[14:03] Agent Heliosense: so let's wrap up, Blossoms if you want to sign up we're at http://thetechvirtual.org/createMember
[14:03] Agent Heliosense: and Lydia and Seafore consider some challenges and lets' use the sim to illustrate
[14:03] Blossoms Kungfu: ok, tyvm
[14:04] Lydia Milner: hmm, Icant tihnk of anything right now
[14:04] Agent Heliosense: I guess this could extend beyond the "parcel" since we are illustrating a challenge not just a stationary exhibit
[14:04] Seafore Perl: Good seeing you again Agent.
[14:04] Lydia Milner: oh, how to keep coffee hot :)
[14:04] Seafore Perl: Take care Lydia and Blossoms.
[14:04] Lydia Milner: that bugs me!
[14:04] Lydia Milner: Bye Seafore, good to see you again :)
[14:04] Agent Heliosense: exactly - how to keep coffee hot without burning it for cave explorers
[14:04] Agent Heliosense: ok Seafore
[14:05] Seafore Perl: Hot coffee!
[14:05] Lydia Milner: lol, can I carry hot coffee with me everywhere I go without that 'flask' taste ?
[14:05] Seafore Perl: Just so they don't sue if it's spilled!
[14:05] Lydia Milner: that would change MY world!
[14:05] Lydia Milner: lol
[14:05] Seafore Perl: Bye all.
[14:06] Agent Heliosense: there are lots of things that can be done
[14:06] Lydia Milner: bye :)
[14:06] Agent Heliosense: Bye Seafore
[14:06] Agent Heliosense: like hmmm, hot coffee, are there real world problems involving food storage for example
[14:06] Agent Heliosense: or, even alternative fuel stoves
[14:07] Agent Heliosense: more ideas just tossing them out
[14:07] Agent Heliosense: this kind of challenge....
[14:07] Lydia Milner: hmm, lots, lots of deep science stuff, food hygiene, bacteria etc, but hard to prove in a day ion the field, lab stuff I guess
[14:08] Agent Heliosense: if it solves a compelling real world problem that is even better
[14:08] Agent Heliosense: such as the "cool vaccines" solution or the "adaptive eyecare"
[14:08] Agent Heliosense: we don't expect that kind of miracle solution but it's the vein of thinking
[14:09] Lydia Milner: ok, a company is working ont his right now, but how to look after your independent granny without taking away their independance
[14:09] Lydia Milner: and that would be good for teens ot get them thinking of that other generation
[14:09] Agent Heliosense: write down your ideas Lydia I'm sure you'll be onto 1 or 3!
[14:09] Agent Heliosense: personal assistant robots!
[14:10] Lydia Milner: lol, I have an idea for the future focus but is that not happening now?
[14:10] Lydia Milner: yes, someone is doing that in RL, they 'keyhole' your loved one and can take stats etc. good idea
[14:11] Agent Heliosense: well we're running over 2pm but good to see everyone... think of your challenge and pick a spot
[14:11] Agent Heliosense: the templates will be up....as soon as I can get Rob aka. Stephe on the case!
[14:11] Agent Heliosense: with that....THANKS! and have a great weeekend!
[14:12] Agent Heliosense: zap went blossoms
[14:12] Lydia Milner: lol, nice dress though!
[14:12] Lydia Milner: good to see you again, I am so busy these days I dont get to the meetings
[14:12] Agent Heliosense: oh by the way they got the message abtou the videos not playing and are meant to be restarting the server
[14:12] Agent Heliosense: that's ok there's only been FAQ which you already know
[14:13] Lydia Milner: oh good. I did some run thought filming earlier to see what it all looked like on the vid
[14:13] Lydia Milner: and I think my initial assessment of the exhbs to use is correct
[14:13] Agent Heliosense: the latest though it Tech Challenge and http://www.programforthefuture.org
[14:13] Lydia Milner: thanks :)
[14:13] Agent Heliosense: sure, it's whatever you can get to look good
[14:14] Lydia Milner: yes, and I might have to do a part one and tewo, which Id ont really liek, but you tube is 10 mins and its harrd to get the clear picture for newbies of all that goes on here
and its benfits, in 10 mins :)
[14:14] Lydia Milner: most ppl are stumped that you move around
[14:15] Agent Heliosense: its my experience that working with short segments is easiest, like you know Torley's videos are great examples
[14:15] Agent Heliosense: you can get a lot into a few minutes
[14:16] Lydia Milner: I have had some email convs with Torley, very talented guy
[14:16] Lydia Milner: His vids are aimed at those in the know, this is for converts :) so needs to go a little slower I think
[14:17] Lydia Milner: he is very good at distilling the essence
[14:17] Agent Heliosense: ok, is there a way to tie your content into your other ICOM writing or work? I was thinking museum people who
[14:17] Agent Heliosense: may not be infomed what SL can do,
[14:18] Agent Heliosense: it's just an idea, i don't know if that's your plan
[14:18] Lydia Milner: the plan is to do two vids, which are actually three but that is semantics,
[14:18] Lydia Milner: so the first is how to use SL, take the plane ride to the tech V and learn what you need to attend a presenation or meeting
[14:18] Lydia Milner: not to build
[14:19] Agent Heliosense: got it! yes one step at a time!
[14:19] Lydia Milner: the the 2nd is virtual tour, promoting in distilled form what you guys do here
[14:19] Lydia Milner: so the plane lands here, after the vid tut, then the 2nd vid would be the tour guide showiing you around the 2 sims
[14:19] Lydia Milner: this can create a flow for ppl not used to sl, that woudl be like being in rl, but in shrt timeframe
[14:20] Agent Heliosense: it's morning in UK?
[14:20] Lydia Milner: 22.20
[14:20] Agent Heliosense: oh ok... i see so you're going to bed around tiem we go home from work here
[14:21] Lydia Milner: lol. yes. we have family in east coast and phx so used to the time diffs
[14:21] Agent Heliosense: well it's good you could make it it's been a while!
[14:22] Agent Heliosense: looks like i have to take aphone call here so i'lll be dropping off soon
[14:22] Agent Heliosense: grab a plot Lydia with a frame if you feel inspired
[14:22] Lydia Milner: ok, good to see you again. Let me know any commetnts you guys have on the vids, I am doing this for fun,a nd to promote you, so give your input :)
[14:23] Agent Heliosense: sure just let me know what you need and I'll do what I can
[14:23] Lydia Milner: great, give my love to Rob
[14:23] Agent Heliosense: alrighty headed to call.... will do!
[14:23] Lydia Milner: bye :)
