[10:07] Graven Gothly: thank you. i'm going to design the best exhibit in the world.
[10:07] Orcaman Xue: what exhibit in the world?
[10:08] You: this is a meeting we have evey wook to discuss building museum exhibits for the Tech Musuem's next exhibition, called UcanTu
[10:08] Graven Gothly: pay attention orca.
[10:08] Shakini Parnass is Online
[10:08] Lydia Milner: sorry back
[10:08] You: great, Graven!
[10:08] Graven Gothly: yes.
[10:09] Lydia Milner: Hi J3rry
[10:09] peter Woody accepted your inventory offer.
[10:09] Graven Gothly accepted your inventory offer.
[10:09] Lydia Milner: Hi shakini
[10:09] Shakini Parnass: hello everyone - sorry i'm late and will probably have to leave early!
[10:09] GlobetrekkerBob Lane accepted your inventory offer.
[10:09] You: good moring J3rry and Shakini
[10:10] j3rry Paine: ;-)
[10:10] Shakini Parnass: nice to see some new faces here -- welcome
[10:10] peter Woody: thank you
[10:10] Shakini Parnass: how did you all hear about these meetings?
[10:11] Graven Gothly: the tech is famous.
[10:11] peter Woody: I was invited by Orcaman
[10:11] T3ch Janus is Offline
[10:11] GlobetrekkerBob Lane: I met Dancers here yesterday
[10:11] Shakini Parnass: indeed, and we will all be making it more famous
[10:11] j3rry Paine: word on the street is this is the place to be
[10:11] You: great
[10:12] Shakini Parnass: has everyone had a chance to walk around and see the projects in their current state?
[10:12] Graven Gothly: not yet.
[10:12] Orcaman Xue: yes
[10:12] Alisa Cleanslate: some
[10:12] peter Woody: I had, thanks to Orca
[10:12] GlobetrekkerBob Lane: some
[10:12] Shakini Parnass: lydia, i see you have corn growing now
[10:13] Lydia Milner: oh yes, and some poeple at the back now
[10:13] Shakini Parnass: i tried to step on the pump
[10:13] Lydia Milner: no thats in pieces
[10:13] Lydia Milner: rather a health and saftey issue at the moment
[10:13] Shakini Parnass: just like in RL
[10:13] Lydia Milner: lol
[10:14] Shakini Parnass: any thoughts as to how much pumping will be required to make corn and/or hapily fed people appear?
[10:14] You: good morining Oze
[10:14] Lydia Milner: Hi Oze
[10:14] Oze Aichi: morning folks
[10:15] Shakini Parnass: welcome oze!
[10:15] Lydia Milner: it can be set to whatever, i would think about 3-060 secs would be msot ppls max to get hte full run
[10:15] Lydia Milner: sorry 30-60
[10:15] Shakini Parnass: are you imagining that people will step or click on the pump itself to activate in SL?
[10:15] Lydia Milner: step
[10:15] Lydia Milner: on the list is to
[10:16] Shakini Parnass: would it be helpful if we all went over there to share other ideas?
[10:16] Lydia Milner: sorry, small child stuck climbing on furntire
[10:16] j3rry Paine: movement is problematic
[10:16] Lydia Milner: on the list is to add an anim
[10:16] Shakini Parnass: i know, i can barely walk around without bumping into things
[10:17] Lydia Milner: but i dont think the walking/pumping anim would make the prims move of ht epump
[10:17] Lydia Milner: but it will do of the corn etc growing
[10:17] Lydia Milner: Mars did the script for me a couple weeks ago so that it will do that
[10:17] Lydia Milner: he left the demo on the floor
[10:17] Orcaman Xue: is that what's behind the field of the side of the building?
[10:18] Lydia Milner: no its over by the back wall
[10:18] Lydia Milner: been there about 3 wks now
[10:18] Orcaman Xue: oic
[10:18] Shakini Parnass: for those of you who have no idea what we're talking about, lydia is working on an exhibit related to the kickstart pump which is used in areas with low rainfall for irrigation
[10:18] peter Woody: ic
[10:18] GlobetrekkerBob Lane: ahhh
[10:18] Lydia Milner: oh gosh yes that helps haha
[10:19] Lydia Milner: Bob, I would like to congratulate you on how close your av looks to your RL pic :)
[10:19] Shakini Parnass: "stepping" on the pump will make corn grow and could also show how many people are fed...
[10:19] GlobetrekkerBob Lane: ;)
[10:19] Lydia Milner: i have done about 30 mins work this week
[10:19] Lydia Milner: no more
[10:19] Lydia Milner: got hte pic on though thanks Stephe
[10:20] Lydia Milner: need to change it, I dont like just how it is at the moment
[10:20] Shakini Parnass: one thing that martin fisher mentioned when we spoke a few weeks ago was that tomatoes are a big crop
[10:20] Lydia Milner: who is martin fisher?
[10:20] Shakini Parnass: he is the inventor of the kickstart pump
[10:20] Lydia Milner: oh ok
[10:20] Lydia Milner: we can change the corn to toms, more color
[10:20] Dancers Yao: Sorry - computer froze
[10:20] Shakini Parnass: i don't know if he mentioned corn, or if that came originally from us bouncing ideas around
[10:20] Shakini Parnass: hi dancers
[10:21] Lydia Milner: i dont kow, its so long since i looked at the webpage or my notes i dont remember
[10:21] Dancers Yao: hi - having memory problems - new computer arriving soon
[10:21] Shakini Parnass: he also gave me some stats as to how many tomatoes grow/acre that i could check my notes and share with you as well
[10:21] Lydia Milner: lol, i was just tihnking that!
[10:21] Alisa Cleanslate: Yay Dancers
[10:21] Lydia Milner: great thanks
[10:21] Shakini Parnass: would a new computer help my memory problems too?
[10:22] Lydia Milner: how long have you waited for this computer?
[10:22] j3rry Paine: i can't remember
[10:22] Lydia Milner: lol
[10:22] Shakini Parnass: btw, is everyone here okay with us posting this conversation online afterwards?
[10:22] Lydia Milner: yes
[10:22] Dancers Yao: yes
[10:22] Orcaman Xue: yes
[10:22] Shakini Parnass: maybe i should ask if anyone isn't okay with that?
[10:22] peter Woody: yes
[10:22] Alisa Cleanslate: yes
[10:23] GlobetrekkerBob Lane: yes
[10:23] Lydia Milner: haha not hats confusing
[10:23] Shakini Parnass: for all the new folks here today, dancers also has an exhibit that is related to the witness project
[10:24] Graven Gothly: is she running from the mob?
[10:24] Shakini Parnass: one of the things we hope to have happen here is that people may be interested in not only sharing ideas, but possibly sharing some of their skills (modeling, scripting, etc.) to help out with projects if it is something they are interested in
[10:24] Alisa Cleanslate: lol
[10:25] Shakini Parnass: Plus, Stephe has an exciting announcement about the exhibit
[10:25] You: sorry to be so quiet. I've been making a notecard for a big announcement.
[10:26] Lydia Milner: no prob
[10:26] You: we are now giving prizes for the UcanTu exhibition
[10:26] j3rry Paine: \o/
[10:26] j3rry Paine: || Yay!
[10:26] j3rry Paine: / \
[10:26] Lydia Milner: I tihnk thats an excellent idea
[10:26] Lydia Milner: lol
[10:27] j3rry Paine: what kind of prizes? a kiss on the h and is quite continental ...
[10:27] You: prizes ranging up to a possible max of 1 M lindens
[10:27] Oze Aichi: prizes? is it more like the format of the Art Film & Music project?
[10:27] You: a little different
[10:27] You: let me drop a note on you al l with the details
[10:27] Graven Gothly: wow
[10:27] Orcaman Xue accepted your inventory offer.
[10:28] peter Woody accepted your inventory offer.
[10:28] Oze Aichi: how much US$ is $1M Linden?
[10:28] Draxtor Despres is Online
[10:28] Lydia Milner: $4000 us
[10:28] Dancers Yao accepted your inventory offer.
[10:28] Lydia Milner accepted your inventory offer.
[10:28] Oze Aichi accepted your inventory offer.
[10:28] Lydia Milner: ish
[10:29] j3rry Paine accepted your inventory offer.
[10:29] GlobetrekkerBob Lane accepted your inventory offer.
[10:29] Shakini Parnass: its $250k linden per team member up to a max of $1M
[10:29] You: did I hit everyvbody with a note?
[10:29] Shakini Parnass accepted your inventory offer.
[10:29] peter Woody: yes ty
[10:29] j3rry Paine: ty stephe
[10:29] Alisa Cleanslate accepted your inventory offer.
[10:30] Lydia Milner: thx
[10:30] Alisa Cleanslate: thanks
[10:30] Graven Gothly accepted your inventory offer.
[10:30] You: and the bad news is that the deadline is the end of this month :-(
[10:30] Lydia Milner: lol
[10:30] GlobetrekkerBob Lane: yes thanks
[10:30] peter Woody: !
[10:30] Lydia Milner: Well I am glad that prizes are being awarded
[10:31] Shakini Parnass: we are hoping this will help "kickstart" the process into high gear
[10:31] Shakini Parnass: er, the development
[10:31] Lydia Milner: Exhbits take a lot of time and effort and although it is a great deal of fun, working to a deadline impacts on RL
[10:31] Shakini Parnass accepted your inventory offer.
[10:31] Lydia Milner: and often on income acitivites if you are self employed
[10:32] Lydia Milner: so thank you nice poeple at the tech :)
[10:32] j3rry Paine: july 31 --- lol if this were chess it would be "speed chess"
[10:32] Lydia Milner: haha
[10:32] Lydia Milner: I have 5 exhbiits up and have hardly started
[10:32] Orcaman Xue: ow fast can you code?
[10:32] j3rry Paine: line a day lmao
[10:33] Lydia Milner: hahaha
[10:33] j3rry Paine: sometimes more, sometimes less
[10:33] Lydia Milner: I am trying to get a scripter on board to help out, I will try him again now with tihs announcement, he is very good and a lovely chap
[10:33] Graven Gothly: so for the contest, is it important that the exhibit translates to RL like the rest of UcanTu? or can it be completely virtual?
[10:34] Shakini Parnass: ideally, it would be able to make the transition to the RL exhibit
[10:34] Lydia Milner: Shakini, how closely is the translation from SL to RL expectd? with afm it was failry lose
[10:34] Shakini Parnass: or at least some of the ideas from it would be realizable
[10:34] Lydia Milner: ah ok
[10:35] Lydia Milner: does there still ahve to be a S valley link?
[10:35] Shakini Parnass: if possible, yes
[10:35] Dancers Yao: So no deadline extension
[10:35] Shakini Parnass: and also should have a component that addresses how it will inspire people to do something themselves
[10:35] Graven Gothly: i'm unfamiliar with S valley please...
[10:35] Shakini Parnass: as in You Can Too
[10:35] Shakini Parnass: S valley is silicon valley where the RL tech is located
[10:36] Lydia Milner: sorry Silicon VAlley, where the Tech is sited in RL
[10:36] j3rry Paine: i noticed in my last visit to the tech that there is still no orrerry. i suggested that an orrerry of the music of the spheres be constructed, with a variety of interactive avenues. is this still not of interest to the tech?
[10:36] Shakini Parnass: whats an orrerry?
[10:36] j3rry Paine: oan orrerry is a model of the solar system
[10:36] Orcaman Xue: looking at stars.
[10:37] j3rry Paine: there's one over there .... in the corner
[10:37] You: J3rry, do you mean the Tech in RL or SL?
[10:37] Shakini Parnass: it may be of interest, but the Art Film and Music project is not under development at the moment
[10:38] j3rry Paine: i mean the tech in rl. i would love to construct a real orrerry. when i was a kid i hung out at the morrison planetarioumwhat a gas
[10:38] Shakini Parnass: the deadline was the opening of the RL exhibit on June 4th
[10:38] Lydia Milner: j3rry was with us then
[10:38] You: THE AFM COMPETITION WILL RESUME LATER THIS SUMMER, PROBABLY
[10:38] Lydia Milner: oh cool
[10:38] You: sorry about the caps
[10:38] Alisa Cleanslate: great
[10:39] Lydia Milner: how many exhbs are you looking for shakini? Its a shame there is no deadline extension
[10:39] Shakini Parnass: getting back to this exhibit, stephe will post an update as to the guidelines hopefully later today
[10:39] Shakini Parnass: we are under some tight deadlines at the moment due to our grant
[10:39] Shakini Parnass: it is unclear whether we will be able to get an extension or not
[10:40] Shakini Parnass: so for now, we are keeping to the deadlines originally posted
[10:40] Shakini Parnass: that being said, it is possible that they may get extended by a small amount, but we can't say yet for sure....
[10:40] Alisa Cleanslate: Best get workin......
[10:40] Shakini Parnass: exactly!
[10:40] peter Woody accepted your inventory offer.
[10:40] Graven Gothly accepted your inventory offer.
[10:41] GlobetrekkerBob Lane accepted your inventory offer.
[10:41] Shakini Parnass: hello demonya - feel free to come join us, we're talking about the ucantu exhibit
[10:41] Demonya Rozenberg: hello.
[10:41] Lydia Milner: Hi Demonya
[10:41] You: hi, Demonya
[10:41] j3rry Paine: hiya!
[10:41] Shakini Parnass: lydia, since you have so many exhibits underway, maybe you could tell people a little about them and what you need help with
[10:41] peter Woody: hello
[10:41] Orcaman Xue: hello
[10:41] Alisa Cleanslate: Dancers got logged off. She and Stephe are working on getting the witness videos on a server.
[10:41] Lydia Milner: ok, as to help, i need help more help with RL right now
[10:42] Lydia Milner: but we can talk about hte projects
[10:42] Lydia Milner: where do you want to start?
[10:42] Shakini Parnass: anywhere you like
[10:42] Alisa Cleanslate: Lydia, I'm still up to help you with animation.
[10:42] Lydia Milner: oh greatI may take you up on that
[10:42] Demonya Rozenberg accepted your inventory offer.
[10:42] Demonya Rozenberg accepted your inventory offer.
[10:43] Lydia Milner: ok kickstart is the most advacned
[10:43] Lydia Milner: in term sof work
[10:43] You: hi, Else, come join us
[10:43] Lydia Milner: it will have a model of the kickcstart pump
[10:44] Lydia Milner: which is activated to make crops grow, and then pictures of ppl
[10:44] else Ra accepted your inventory offer.
[10:44] j3rry Paine: what kind of scripting do you need?
[10:44] Lydia Milner: to illustrate the families and communiutes sustained
[10:44] else Ra accepted your inventory offer.
[10:44] Lydia Milner: i dont know yet j3rry
[10:45] Lydia Milner: are you offering help?
[10:45] Shakini Parnass: some things to think about might be, is there a limit to how much of a certain vegetable can grow?
[10:45] Shakini Parnass: and/or how many people could be fed
[10:45] Shakini Parnass: do other environmental conditions come into play (or should they?)
[10:45] Orcaman Xue: If there's anything I can offer I'd be happy to assist
[10:45] j3rry Paine: lol unless you say 'wat kind of scripting do you got?', sure i can help
[10:46] Orcaman Xue: I have tons of scripts
[10:46] Shakini Parnass: do we make it a game? is there a goal to feed X # of people?
[10:46] Graven Gothly: that sounds crass
[10:46] Orcaman Xue: don't you think that will just flood the place at a set time?
[10:46] Lydia Milner: hmm, i'm unsure as to how all those details would help. I thought that the tech did not want exchs with lots of info signs and data
[10:47] Shakini Parnass: we don't...
[10:47] Lydia Milner: we did discuss at an eariler mtg about
[10:47] Lydia Milner: hold on brb
[10:47] Shakini Parnass: cliff hanger
[10:48] Shakini Parnass: did everyone here get a chance to peruse the list of possible exhibit topics?
[10:48] You: the exhibits need to be interactive
[10:48] Graven Gothly: yes. i like the lifeline radio.
[10:48] Shakini Parnass: they are posted on thetechvirtual.org website under "projects" - ucantu
[10:48] You: an d inspiring
[10:49] Lydia Milner: sorry. I try to attend all these mtgs but my daughter comes first at this time of day
[10:49] Shakini Parnass: we are trying to get transcripts of actual radio broadcasts that are used for educational programming on the lifeline radio now
[10:49] Shakini Parnass: all of them are in local languages
[10:49] Lydia Milner: we did discuss at an earlier mtg about having the person steping along with a video of
[10:49] Lydia Milner: the farmer stepping too, to try adn keep up
[10:49] Shakini Parnass: we have some challenges with the lifeline as well, since the handcrank is rather fragile
[10:50] Shakini Parnass: do you have video of someone stepping on the pump?
[10:50] Graven Gothly: i'm thinking about something less literal. more about idealizing the concept than making the handcrank work in sl....
[10:51] Graven Gothly: for e.g. i'm inspired all the time by npr, but it has more to do with what i imagine as a result of the audio than getting the windows media plugin to work on my pc.
[10:51] Lydia Milner: the video onthe webpage only has a small segment useable which is on ly a few secs long, so for SL it coudl be repeated, prob be rather jumpy
[10:51] Graven Gothly: sound is so internalized.
[10:51] Lydia Milner: but for RL a video would be useful
[10:52] Oze Aichi: sorry i have got to go to troubleshoot somethng else. have a nice meeting
[10:52] Shakini Parnass: thanks for coming oze
[10:52] Lydia Milner: bye Oze
[10:52] You: so long Oze
[10:52] Oze Aichi: bye
[10:52] peter Woody: bye
[10:52] Lydia Milner: anyone is welcome to joinany of my exhbs
[10:52] Lydia Milner: I will prob communicate on the webpage mostly
[10:53] Alisa Cleanslate: Stephe, have you been able to help Dancers with the Witness video?
[10:53] Lydia Milner: different time zones
[10:53] Shakini Parnass: so, as stephe mentioned, one of our goals is to make these interactive in RL, so conceptual ideas are great as long as we are able to convey them in some way that translates in a fairly obvious way to our visitors and hopefully gives them something gestural and/or physical to accompany the conceptual idea
[10:54] Shakini Parnass: three conversations are now going on at once -- lydia, is there a video on the kickstart website you can use as a template?
[10:54] Shakini Parnass: or is that even something you want to do - have people step along?
[10:54] Lydia Milner: prob for sl but not for rl
[10:54] Lydia Milner: ys i do
[10:55] Lydia Milner: some time ago i tried to phn all the co's i have got exbhs listed for and didnt get anyone, or any replies to msgs
[10:55] Lydia Milner: for various reasons things have ground almost to a halt with me
[10:55] peter Woody: sorry... RL calls me. I thank you for the invite and I hope to be soon with you again.
[10:55] Lydia Milner: bye Peter
[10:55] Orcaman Xue: sorry to hear that
[10:55] Shakini Parnass: htanks for coming peter
[10:55] Dancers Yao: Bye Peter
[10:56] You: bye Peter, thx for coming
[10:56] j3rry Paine: bye :P
[10:56] Shakini Parnass: rather than having lots of separate efforts to contact these companies and laureates, it might be better if specific requests went through me since i am in touch with many of them to obtain artifacts and assets for the exhibit anyways
[10:56] Graven Gothly: i'm also leaving. good bye.
[10:56] Lydia Milner: ok
[10:56] Lydia Milner: bye Graven
[10:57] You: bye Graven
[10:57] Shakini Parnass: we've already had a problem internally with more than one person contacting the laureates and it just gets confusing for them not knowing who to respond to
[10:57] j3rry Paine: cya G
[10:57] Orcaman Xue: bye
[10:57] Shakini Parnass: thanks for coming graven
[10:57] Lydia Milner: i like the eyecare idea i have but i dont know if it can be done in rl
[10:58] Lydia Milner: fogquest may be quite easy to do in rl
[10:58] Lydia Milner: but relies some on data info to read
[10:58] Shakini Parnass: can you jog our memories as to what you wanted to do with the eyecare?
[10:59] Draxtor Despres is Offline
[10:59] Lydia Milner: yes, sure, have booths with tasks in and glassess attached to the booths with diff eye conditiosn set in them, and you have ot put them on and do the task
[10:59] Dancers Yao: Create A Universal Language is easier in RL because of the video interaction
[11:00] Lydia Milner: or, more technically, could be to do it on a comp screen where the visuals appear as if you ahve the given eye condtn and hte screen gradually clears so that you can see properly, illustrating the diffce of good eyes and not
[11:00] Shakini Parnass: one idea we've been talking about is having a set of different focal point settings
[11:00] Dancers Yao: Stephe - Is it possible to have a video server at the Tech?
[11:01] Orcaman Xue: I think that having different lenses would give the kids a better idea of what your talking about
[11:01] Lydia Milner: To be honest, I am finding this project a lot harder to work on than AFM was. There is litlte support in SL, we are buidlingin the frames but the exhb has to fit into the village, which is still being finalised in parralel to this deadline
[11:01] Lydia Milner: I get confused lol
[11:02] Shakini Parnass: i know, this is very challenging in many ways
[11:02] Shakini Parnass: for us, this is challenging too because we are starting exhibit development in parallel as well
[11:02] Dancers Yao: It is also difficult to know how to meet the deadline if I can't get the video on a server
[11:03] Lydia Milner: lol yes dancers
[11:03] Lydia Milner: can it be sited ont eh web page?
[11:03] Lydia Milner: or doenst it work like that?
[11:04] You: Dancers, I'm talking to out IT dept. to see if we can help. I'll let you know shortly
[11:04] Dancers Yao: it can be - Witness archives their videos - so it might not be directly available - which wouldn't work for the exhibit
[11:04] Dancers Yao: Thanks Stephe. Is the glow better ?
[11:05] Lydia Milner: I will read the notecard again some time and see if it is claerer. Generally I feel like I dont know how to meet the criteria and I get frustrated and go do somehing else.
[11:05] You: yes, that looks much better, although zI'm using a different computer today
[11:06] Shakini Parnass: is there something specific that is frustrating you in the criteria?
[11:06] Dancers Yao: Thanks Stephe
[11:06] Shakini Parnass: as i mentioned before, stephe is going to update the guidelines
[11:06] else Ra: please can you give me the "join the group" again? I disconnected ....
[11:07] Lydia Milner: generally just trying to meet it, i havent read it for ages
[11:07] Lydia Milner: not since one of my exhs disppaered from the list
[11:07] Lydia Milner: of things you can choose from
[11:07] else Ra: tx
[11:07] Dancers Yao: Is there really no hope for extending the deadline?
[11:07] Shakini Parnass: i think the important thing to bear in mind with all of this, is that it is an experiment, just as art, film and music was
[11:08] Shakini Parnass: we had no idea how that would turn out and i think everyone was surprised byt he results, particularly on such a short timeline
[11:08] Shakini Parnass: unfortunately, we are understaffed on this end and don't have as much time to be inworld nurturing the process
[11:08] Shakini Parnass: because we are also trying to address the RL logistics at the same time
[11:09] Lydia Milner: yes i knw. i think the impact this has had on sl cheerleading and support is very big
[11:09] You: hi, Perry, come join us
[11:09] Perry Later: Had a meeting that ran on...
[11:09] Lydia Milner: Hi perry
[11:09] Shakini Parnass: for now, the exhibit is still scheduled to open in january - the longer we prolong development in SL, the less likelihood there is that it would actually make it into the RL exhibit
[11:10] Lydia Milner: yes, i understand that
[11:10] Perry Later accepted your inventory offer.
[11:11] Dancers Yao: Would 2 week extension be possible?
[11:11] Shakini Parnass: with 16 projects to realize in RL, they have to get underway soon so that we can physically start prototyping and putting things out on the exhibit floor and getting feedback from our visitors
[11:11] Lydia Milner: are you doing all 16 in RL?
[11:11] Lydia Milner: i thought like afm it woudl be choosing a selection?
[11:11] Shakini Parnass: don't know yet, we're hoping to fit in as many as possible
[11:11] Shakini Parnass: it depends on how extensive some fot he interactives become and how much room they will require
[11:12] Shakini Parnass: and it also depends on some budget issues we are dealing with at the moment
[11:12] Lydia Milner: so do we need to aim for a small footprint and simple to biuld in rl?
[11:13] Shakini Parnass: if possible, yes (as well as compelling and inspiring takeaways!)
[11:13] Lydia Milner: and no huge amounts of data but still specific and relevant to silicon valley and inpiring to do something yourself and technically accurate?
[11:14] Shakini Parnass: see, you're not confused at all as to the criteria!
[11:14] Lydia Milner: I dont mind working to huge menus, I do it at work, but I do like to be claer what they are
[11:14] Lydia Milner: ha ha
[11:14] Lydia Milner: can you stick them all in one place for me to read please?
[11:14] Shakini Parnass: this could definitely make you hungry
[11:14] Shakini Parnass: yes, stephe is going to post all of this criteria and suggested guidelines
[11:15] Orcaman Xue: hungry?
[11:15] You: yes, we will iron out the guidelines and post them ASAP
[11:15] Shakini Parnass: that was a reference to the huge menus
[11:15] Orcaman Xue: oooohhhhh
[11:15] j3rry Paine: i really like the kickstart idea, lydia -- perhaps the concept of dynamical systems and dependence on initial conditions can be worked in and visuualized
[11:15] Lydia Milner: the british govt brought out performance stats on adult social care seviceds a few years ago where of the 135 ish 12 were contractdicary,a nd we still worked with that. I liek to be sure what they are :)
[11:15] Lydia Milner: dynamical systems?
[11:16] j3rry Paine: ;-) strange and chaotic attractors
[11:16] You: are youtalking about us?
[11:16] Shakini Parnass: thats what i was thinking as well
[11:16] j3rry Paine: lol http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attractor
[11:17] j3rry Paine: but you are strange and chaotic as well
[11:17] You: thank you, I hope so
[11:17] Shakini Parnass: so true
[11:17] Lydia Milner: lol
[11:17] Dancers Yao: as is my computer
[11:18] You: lol
[11:18] Shakini Parnass: do any of the new folks have any questions about all this that we can answer for you?
[11:18] Shakini Parnass: or make more chaotic and confusing?
[11:18] GlobetrekkerBob Lane: :)
[11:18] Lydia Milner: thanks j3rry,t his is really intesresting
[11:18] Lydia Milner: we need to have a computer party when dancers gets her new comp
[11:18] Orcaman Xue: I know right?
[11:19] GlobetrekkerBob Lane: the exibitions here are models for the RL museum then?
[11:19] Dancers Yao: yes!
[11:19] Orcaman Xue: I want her to have a mac already
[11:19] You: yes
[11:19] Shakini Parnass: thats the hope
[11:19] Lydia Milner: lol
[11:19] else Ra: really interesting
[11:19] j3rry Paine: i hear my butterfly flapping its wings in australia, i have to go ;-) very nice meeting, informative thanks
[11:19] Alisa Cleanslate: Okay, I have to go. Bye all.
[11:19] Shakini Parnass: or that they will at least have some takeaways that could be bult into a RL exhibit
[11:19] Lydia Milner: bye alisa, nice to see youa gain
[11:19] Shakini Parnass: bye, thanks for coming
[11:20] You: bye J3rry and Alisa
[11:20] j3rry Paine: see you all
[11:20] GlobetrekkerBob Lane: ok
[11:20] Lydia Milner: Bob if oyu look on the wiki and see what went form sl to rl with the last project art filma nd music (afm)
[11:20] Lydia Milner: this might help
[11:20] Lydia Milner: bye J3rry
[11:20] GlobetrekkerBob Lane: I'm afraid I had to run as well, but I do have some more questions...
[11:20] GlobetrekkerBob Lane: I did do that Lydia :)
[11:20] You: sure
[11:21] Shakini Parnass: feel free to email me or stephe - our info is posted on the website as well
[11:21] GlobetrekkerBob Lane: though I wasn't sure if some exhibits were designed purely for SL or not
[11:21] Lydia Milner: http://thetechvirtual.org/projects/winning-exhibit-projects/
[11:21] Lydia Milner: try this link bob
[11:21] Lydia Milner: apologies for forgetting there werw new pople here and tpying afm all the time!
[11:21] GlobetrekkerBob Lane: thanks Lydia
[11:21] Lydia Milner: some ppl did do purely sl ones for fun
[11:21] GlobetrekkerBob Lane: no worries, I got the reference :)
[11:22] Lydia Milner: its up to you
[11:22] Lydia Milner: although the big drive is for RL-able ones :)
[11:22] GlobetrekkerBob Lane: understandable
[11:22] Shakini Parnass: i imagine there will be more space here for the Ucantu exhibits down the road for those that are primarily designed for SL
[11:23] GlobetrekkerBob Lane: though mimicking RL doesn't always allow for the full campability of SL
[11:23] GlobetrekkerBob Lane: capability
[11:23] Shakini Parnass: this is true, but its a limitation that we have to deal with in order to engage this community in the process
[11:23] GlobetrekkerBob Lane: I realized that as well :)
[11:24] Shakini Parnass: the art, film and music project was all about going from SL to RL
[11:24] Shakini Parnass: this experiment is about going from RL to SL back to RL again
[11:24] GlobetrekkerBob Lane: I'm sorry to run, hopefully I will be able to talk to y'all about this again :)
[11:24] Shakini Parnass: its anyone's guess as to how well that will work
[11:24] Shakini Parnass: thanks for coming
[11:24] You: bye bob
[11:24] Shakini Parnass: bye
[11:24] GlobetrekkerBob Lane: thank you
[11:24] Orcaman Xue: bye bob
[11:24] GlobetrekkerBob Lane: bye
[11:25] Dancers Yao: bye bob
[11:25] Shakini Parnass: dancers - i don't see you, where are you?
[11:26] Shakini Parnass: okay i see you now
[11:26] Dancers Yao: standing away from group because of memory...nothing personal;)
[11:26] Lydia Milner: sorry was away diaper
[11:26] else Ra: sorry, exactly what are u looking for?
[11:26] Lydia Milner: lol
[11:26] Shakini Parnass: how are things going for your project?
[11:26] Shakini Parnass: other than the video server issue
[11:26] else Ra: artist or builders in sl?
[11:27] Shakini Parnass: both artists and builders, scripters, modelers, idea generators, team builders
[11:27] Dancers Yao: okay....but hoped for extenstion because of finally getting new computer
[11:27] else Ra: or both?
[11:27] Lydia Milner: Else were you here when stephe gave everyone a notecard?
[11:27] else Ra: ok
[11:27] Lydia Milner: yes, i woudl ike an extenion too, 2 weeks?
[11:27] else Ra: yes yes
[11:27] else Ra: but who will build projects?
[11:28] else Ra: artist self?
[11:28] Lydia Milner: anyone can build the projects
[11:28] Lydia Milner: you can build alone or join or begin a team for others to join
[11:28] You: Shakini is doing her best, but it doesn't depend on her alone.
[11:28] else Ra: and if an artist in Rl is not able to use sl?
[11:28] You: for now, assume the deadline is 7/31
[11:28] Perry Later: Good thing that I'm still an "observer" to the process. Things are beginning to ramp up and I have lots to learn about building in SL
[11:28] Shakini Parnass: but we may be able to extend it to 8/15
[11:29] else Ra: only sl artist?
[11:29] You: and if we can extend it we will, but don't count on it
[11:29] Shakini Parnass: not sure yet, i have a meeting today that will help inform our overall dates
[11:29] Lydia Milner: if you guys could swing that that woudl be wonderful :)
[11:29] Lydia Milner: ok
[11:29] Dancers Yao: U Can Tu could help save real lives....so it is a so valuable.
[11:29] Dancers Yao: great!
[11:29] Shakini Parnass: in fact, i need to get going for that meeting now, so i'm going to run - please feel free to get in touch with me or stephe with any other questions
[11:29] Lydia Milner: ok bye :)
[11:30] Perry Later: Somehow I would like to find a way to participate in a more direct manner.
[11:30] Shakini Parnass: thanks again to all of you!!!
[11:30] Lydia Milner: Perry have you looked at the web page?
[11:30] You: else, the exhibits require all sorts of skills - everything you mentioned and then some
[11:30] Shakini Parnass: bye for now
[11:30] Shakini Parnass is Offline
[11:30] Dancers Yao: bye..
[11:30] Perry Later: the link you just posted a few moments ago?
[11:30] You: yes?
[11:30] Lydia Milner: yes, that is one part of it
[11:31] Dancers Yao: and dynamical skills
[11:31] Lydia Milner: follow the link back to projects and go from there
[11:31] Lydia Milner: lol
[11:31] Lydia Milner: i will be owkring on my dynamical skills lol
[11:31] Perry Later: I'll do that...
[11:32] You: http://thetechvirtual.org/projects/ucantu-projects
[11:32] Dancers Yao: am leaving for the third time...thanks everyone.
[11:32] Lydia Milner: bye dAncers, good luck on the comp
[11:32] You: bye Dancers - I'll let you know about the video

[11:33] You: send me a link - rstephenson@thetech.org
[11:33] Perry Later: I'm going to go read a few web pages...I hope to be here next Tuesday
[11:33] Lydia Milner: we have a friday meeting too perry, 9am here
