Solar Sailor

Solar Sailor fuses wind, solar, and hybrid technologies into a cleaner, healthier way to power boats.

Tremendous amounts of scarce fossil fuels are used to transport people and goods by boat. As boats travel, they spread pollution, damaging the environment and creating health hazards.

Solar Sailor used modern science to re-invent the centuries-old wind-powered ship. Their sail harnesses abundant sea winds to directly move a boat, while also serving as a solar panel to feed batteries in a hybrid diesel engine. Multiple sources of power make the boats more reliable and safer than standard diesel engines, and the system can reduce fuel use by up to 90% for healthier, environmentally smart sea travel.
